The Startopia train is on a roll. This is the best thing. I have successfully caused the entire Steam thread to ignore their own advice and buy things not on a daily or flash deal :P
Lots more solid titles at $5 and up, including Binary Domain and Dead Island for $5 and Sonic Generations for $7.50. There's just something about that under $5 level though.
EDIT: Oh and on Gamefly from 11/27 to 11/29, uyse coupon GFDNOV20 to get:

Yeah, I almost got it during a gog sale, but for whatever reason decided not to. Just grabbed it though. I didn't even know it was on steam. I'm a sucker for building/sim games.

@Shogun and @Big Classy bombed me at the same time. With Primal Carnage and Trials Evolution Gold respectively. Thanks guys. Sadly I already spend all my money on a gift within 2 hours of the autumn sale heh. I will get you two back in the winter sale.
I'd already grabbed the Bioshock pack from Amazon (1-2-Inf for $15) but that Brave New World is delicious. And there's a Gamefly coupon, [edit - you mentioned that].
I woke up this morning to discover that @Iolo had gifted me Startopia at like 5 AM or whatever! Thank you! I played the hell out of the demo of this back in the day but I never got around to buying it. I almost picked it up last time it was on sale on GOG.com but I didn't. And now I can discover its magic! If you're like me and just got Startopia, check out this site. It had a patch from one of the developers that fixes some old stuff and makes the game run better on modern systems, with fancy shadows and stuff. The patch is gone from that site now but you can grab it here to see if it works for you.
Woke up to the sweet sweet sounds of a 14 month old hollering this morning. Stumbled downstairs, got the coffee running, snacked on an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie I baked last night, and started getting ready for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Then I check my e-mail to see I was double-teamed during the night!
Thanks to @Berylline I'm going to be a-Chainsaw Warrior-ing!
And thanks to @BigDes I'm going home with Gone Home!
Thanks you two, and happy Fall Sale and Happy Thanksgiving!

Woke up this morning, and what did I see?
A shiny new Steam gift in my inbox for me! @Berylline took the chance to prove herself classy,
Beef and bean burritos make me a little gassy!
Thanks for I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, @Berylline!
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
far cry 3 for 7.50 on amazon is tempting....but gaben?
It uses uplay where it's at anyway. IMO it really isn't any different than just adding a non-steam game.
I personally think it's more useful to have it on Steam then. You're going to be starting Uplay anyway when you click to play it. But if you're like me and Steam is always on there's really no difference there, except then at least it's in your Steam list, Steam manages the download and patches, and the game doesn't dissappear from your list if you ever uninstall it.
So Chainsaw Warrior is definitely fantastic... if you played the board game. It is pretty much a perfect recreation of the game with some added value like no shuffling or card management and easy/medium modes. Even on easy where you get a thumb on the scales for your stat rolls and you get to choose your equipment, it's not guaranteed that you'll make it through to kill The Darkness.
You might hit the chasm, not have a rope launcher or the climbing skill and have to backtrack out of the building and lose time. The wretched lunatic might steal your IR goggles or, god forbid, your chainsaw. You might fail a reflex roll and break equipment in a fall. There are a lot (!) of ways to fail.
And hard mode, which is the pure board game form, is brutal. Satisfyingly brutal. Killing The Darkness on hard is a nice mix of good choices and good luck.
Having played and loved the game once upon a time, it's hard for me to peek out from behind my nostalgia colored glasses (for us children of the 80's, it's probably a Miami Vice pastel...) to know whether to recommend the game to folks without that tie to the past. The game is certainly fun, but there is a certain amount of clicking through mob zombies en route to more interesting cards that's not especially exciting after the first 50+. And a lot of the game is watching what unfolds. There are actual player decisions to be made, but not every turn. A lot of times you are sort of reacting to what the cards have in store for you. It's almost a randomized adventure game in that sense. And the mechanics are a bit unbalanced. Shooting requires a reflex check to even be able to fie and has limited ammo whereas hand to hand is one roll. If you play on Easy, take the Chainsaw.
So thanks again to @CroakerBC for this. Great version of a great old board game. Hard as nails, patently unfair, good for a quickie 20-30 minute gaming session and deeply satisfying when on hard with randomized equipment you make your reflex check and shoot that smug prick The Darkness in the face.

Grabbed Startopia from steam and Bioshock Infinite for 8 bucks from Gamefly. Now to eat turkey while they download, visit with family, come home, and enjoy them while the crazy people go out in freezing cold for half off hdmi cables.
Whats a really good FPS? I looked at BF4, but Origin and bugginess made me say nah.
Whatcha looking for? Gritty realism? Brown manshoot? Cinematic gunporn?
Or something fuck awesome like Borderlands 2 or Far Cry 3?
Or are you one of those dirty multiplayer only hobos? Hobo.
...but really: Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3 are awesome.
Currently playing: GW2 and TSW

Thank you very much to the very classy @Descendant X for MirrorMoon! I cannot wait to go and explore puzzle-y planets!
Sidenote - Since this thread moves so fast, I'm just going to put the Gone Home giveaway in my signature, so it's there every time I post (without taking up any extra room) rather than trying to post it regularly.
Happy Thanksgiving, or Happy Random Thursday/Steam Sale if it's not Thanksgiving where you are (*coughsorryDescendantXcough*). I hope you all have a great one!
Seems like @Berylline has been on a bit of a gifting extravaganza. I think a certain someone's wishlist deserves some emptying attention.
Yeah, she has a pretty easy wishlist, almost everything is under $10.
Mine, in comparison, looks like I went through the Steam catalogue and found all the expensive games to add to it.

No, no, no, that is not necessary! Please feel free to spread the smiles by gifting someone else instead!
I might have gone a little overboard. But, in my defense, it was my first big Steam sale, and really my friends list is at a pretty manageable size, so why not giftbomb the whole lot of them? Instead of returning fire, it would be awesome if people just giftbombed someone random from their friends list. Truly!
And with that, goodbye for a while - Time for Thanksgiving with the family!
@Maguano hit me with Gravity Badgers. Such a classy guy I have no idea what this game is about but with a name like that I am super intrigued. Happy Birthday to you buddy.
While I am so thankful for everyone who is so classy and giving, I really really really wish I could find anyone to hire me full time so I could reciprocate at all.

Let it be known that @iolo is a horrible bastard for gifting me Wizardry 6, 7, and 8. I will likely never sleep again, my wife is certainly going to leave me, and I'm probably going to lose me job.
Thanks, jerkface.

AC3 on Amazon is tempting, but I gotta figure it'll be on their 2013 Editors Choice selection, and I'll have a $5 coupon for that. Might get it down to $5 all said and done.
Also, I'm completely sold on Prime World: Defenders. Even to the point where it's hard not to buy it even though it's not a daily/flash. I already got all the challenges/bonuses in the demo. The game wasn't even on my radar till yesterday. Every sale I come in with a plan, and then a bunch of random games get mentioned in the thread that I instantly want.

AC3 didn't come out in 2013 though? I thought their Editor's Choice are games from that previous year.

Depends what you're looking for.
Gunslinger is great singleplayer
Payday 2's fantastic co-op
TF2 is free for multi
Arma 3 is something everyone should look at for being great.

Gritty Realism sounds nice. Borderlands 2 bored me after a few weeks. Fry Cry 3 is on sale on Amazon, I think I'll bite on that price.
