I went over most of the H/A pages and various other forums and didn't find an answer, so I hope this isn't an old, easily fixed issue (though it probably is).
My roommate has a pair of speakers that make strange noises whenever a cell phone is in use. This wouldn't be that big of a deal except that we are in a dorm and there is constant cell phone usage in rooms adjacent to our own. He apparently did some searching and it has something to do with bad wiring or whatever (not entirely sure what he is talking about or where he looked), but I thought I would ask you guys what quick fixes (if any) are available.
As a side note, it's only GSM phones that do that. I don't really know why. As Jasconius mentioned, it usually works to just move the phone away from speakers and their wires. How's the signal strength in your place? If it's really bad, the phone will step up the wattage used, which could exacerbate the problem.
Okay, now I know why it does that. Wikipedia - See the last two paragraphs of that section.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
Signal strength is high, its in the middle of Austin. He doesn't actually have a cellphone, its either mine across the room or its coming from other rooms. I guess I just need to accidentally knock them out of the window and make him get better speakers or headphones.

It's caused by a lack of shielding on the wires... but on mine I can just put my cellphone on the other side of the room and its fine.
The answer might be to buy non-crappy speakers.
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
