I only played Metal Gear Solid and Revengeance, should I play the rest?

So the I just watch the awesome as fuck trailer for MGSV,and I can't wait for that game to get release.
Problem is, I only played MGS1 and Revengeance. I barely remember what happened in MGS1, cause I was just a baby when that game was first released. From what I do remember, I have no fucking clue how the hell MGS1 and Revengeance even relate to each other, story wise or gameplay wise.
So, with that in mind, should I play the Metal Gear Solid series before MGSV is released?
