I really wonder about how Get- Robot Santa picks the people to start new threads sometimes.

Well, I never actually wonder. But it felt the right thing to say.

Well, I haven't seen this problem in the last ten minutes or so, but it has been happening rarely enough to me that I am not sure if it is fixed or not.

..but no. I haven't seen it in at LEAST 20 minutes now. :P

    Ugh.

Well...that DOES seem kind of appropriate, to be honest... :P

On a more serious note, though, I hope the issue doesn't give you TOO much of a headache or anything...

    Wiki wrote:
An iron maiden (German: eiserne Jungfrau) is a presumed torture device, consisting of an iron cabinet with a hinged front and spike-covered interior, sufficiently tall to enclose a human being. It is believed to be fictional, although examples have been created for display.

The iron maiden is often associated with the Middle Ages. However, no account has been found earlier than 1793, although medieval torture devices were catalogued and reproduced during the 19th century.

Wolfgang Schild, a professor of criminal law, criminal law history and philosophy of law at the University of Bielefeld, has argued that supposed iron maidens were pieced together from artifacts found in museums, to create spectacular objects intended for (commercial) exhibition.

Historians have ascertained that Johann Philipp Siebenkees created the history of it as a hoax in 1793. According to Siebenkees' colportage, it was first used on August 14, 1515, to execute a coin forger.

It was built in the 19th century as a probable misinterpretation of a medieval "Schandmantel" ("mantle of shame"), which was made of wood and tin but without spikes.

Several nineteenth-century iron maidens are on display in museums around the world, but it is unlikely that they were ever employed.

    Huh.

I mean to be fair yes, drek is totally a decent stand-in for shit in a phrase like "What's this drek?" especially considering it's already totally a word, albeit less used. But when you want to say shit-ton or shithole or compound the word in general, you actually need the word shit in there!

Frag as a replacement for fuck is more annoying and reminds me of the stupid 40k replacement for it which is even more awful

Wouldn't it be better if they were the last against the wall so they'd have to see what that scenario looks like?

    ugh, no

that'd probably make them go "I don't grok why you're doing this"

just get them dead and thrown in a shallow mass grave and we all move on with our vastly improved lives

I feel like they are all 100% the same, so it comes down to what your jam is.

I watched someone play through Lego Marvel and I'm currently playing through Lego Lord of the Rings.

If you like DC, do Lego Batman 2.
    Harry Potter? LotR? etc etc

It's more the joy of running around as lego versions of your favorite minor characters.

Anyone ever do anything like this? I'm stuck on a homework problem
    Let X and Y be independent random variables with respective pdf's f(x) = 3x^2; 0 < x < 1 and g(y) = 4y^3; 0 < y < 1. What's the pdf of Z =Y/X? What is P(Z < 0.5)?

What I'm doing is creating a new variable V, and setting it to X. Then X=V and Y=ZV.

The Jacobian is |v| or just v since we know v is always positive.

Then we integrate v*f(v)*g(zv) dv from 0 to 1 (the range of x) and we get the pdf of Z as

    int(v*3v^2*4(zv)^3)dv=int(12 v^6 z^3)dv = 12/7 z^3 where 0<z

Except... that answer makes no sense whatsoever. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.
