I've been using the miss Jessie products I talked about ordering last thread for a few weeks and they are fabulous. I've got creme de la curl conditioner, leave in condish, and the jelly soft curls styling gel. I LOVE the gel - it's amazing for second day hair. Just wet hair a little and scrunch with gel and bam great hair. It gives great soft definition. The only issue is these products + my hair getting longer is giving me softer, more stretchy curls than I'm used to so it's a bit of an adjustment, but I really like it overall.

I am having the hardest time trying to find the right way to dry my hair (or let it dry) along with what finishing products to use and how much. There's no problem getting curls, but they don't seem to be falling into anything that looks like a natural hairstyle. Usually, the curls are too large and clumped together, but if I try to separate them more, I'm still getting frizz. Overall, my hair is in much better shape, though.

When my hair was longer I used a wide tooth comb when it was wet and then gently scrunched it a little bit while wet and then left it alone forever

That's what I've mainly tried and it results in the really big curls that look unnatural. I don't yet know how to soften/separate the curls up without making my hair frizz.

yaay I love talking curly hair

I am sure your big curls are awesome! some people would kill for "unnatural" looking natural curls. if you want to change it up, here are a few things I did when I had short hair and bigger curls - adjust/shake hair out at the root with fingers when it is SOPPING wet. if it is approaching dry, frizz will happen. you can also separate your curls manually and twist them out with your fingers for smaller curls - again the key is doing it when your hair is still very wet! as for drying, I almost always let mine air dry but since my hair will freeze on my head if i do that now I will diffuse dry the ends a bit (upside down). I'm sure I would have less frizz if I refrained from touching it at all while it dried but I have no self control and I like big hair so I scrunch it a lot as it dries.

product wise - it's just best to experiment. some products require a handful and for others less is more. I usually start out with a quarter sized dollop and then increase or decrease if I feel I haven't gotten it right.

and the forums on naturallycurly.com are a wealth of knowledge. there is bound to be someone there with your hair type! plus looking at before/after pics is fun.

Mine was stick straight until I was like twenty-two or so. The older I get, the more wavy/curly it gets. Dunno why.

maybe i'll try to wash my hair tomorrow and then let it curl (it seems to work out really well if I air dry it while having it half up/half down. Probably because it's less heavy.

If I dry my hair and scrunch it, it looks like I slept poorly and maybe don't care about my appearance much

    Thanks super-straight fine hair

when I was in high school and I had below mid-back length hair I used to get up in the morning early, wash it, and then go back to bed carefully hanging my hair off the side of the bed so that it could curl all the way to the root without being weighed down at the ends as it air dried

that's pretty much as fancy as I got with styling until I was in my mid-20s

Wear all of them, in a new and exciting configuration!

I'm worried about when I'm giong to find time to shave my legs or wash my hair or well, anything, before tomorrow night's party. We're supposed to be hitting up the pub between work and dinner ... man I hope I don't dress up and nobody else does. Last year it was a reasonably elegant event ...

Stick with one pant. It's more fashionable.
Also, you don't want to be overdressed.

So I've been sick for the past week and hoo boy has it taken a toll on me. Luckily this morning I was able to rally for a bit, get a haircut, and get some stuff needed doing very much done. Also since I'm home for the holidays I am hanging out with my dogs all day while I nurse myself and let me tell you: dog is best cure for sick. Evidence:
