[Recruitment/IC/OOC] Cthulhu Dark: Murder in the Museum
Murder in the Museum[b/]
This is the recruitment and play thread for a Cthulhu Dark game, the rules for which can be found here. It is open to the first four people who create a character. If you want to play just create your character, a brief biography, and preferably a picture. The game is set in and around The Museum of Natural History in an unnamed city in the 1930s. The esteemed archaeologist Victor Van Bergen has been murdered after returning from an expedition to Egypt. The museum is opening up after being shut down for several days for the investigation. Your character should have some connection with Dr. Van Bergen and the museum as most of the scenario will take place there. You could work at the museum, be a student at a near bye university who comes there to study, or a relative of Dr. Van Bergen. It is assumed that your character knows everyone else unless you specify otherwise. Otherwise feel free to be creative. Remember that this is an investigation scenario though, so whoever you create should have the desire to see the mystery through in spite of danger.
Let the game begin!
The lobby of the museum is subdued this morning, even by the standards of a Tuesday. Dr. Van Bergen’s presence, missing so long during his trip to Egypt, is now gone for good. The workers are uneasy, Francis, one of the janitors, has even begun whispering rumors of some sort of curse brought on by a vengeful mummy that killed the poor doctor. The police on the other hand have said it was a burglar who was discovered and smashed Dr. Van Bergen’s skull in a moment of panic. Samantha begins to gather up the first group of the morning for a tour, while Theodore stands idle, the tour group from the high school who were scheduled cancelled at the last moment, most likely due to superstitious parents. Dr. Holtz, Van Bergen’s closest friend at the museum is already in his office, hopefully sober. There is probably a cluster of the usual suspects in the breakroom, drinking coffee and spreading rumors and gossip. The work area, where Dr. Van Bergen met his untimely end has been cleared by the police and open to business if you have any work to do back there or simply wish to see where he died.
You’ve come to the museum, for work, studies, or simply to pay your respect. The police are gone and the blood has been cleared up but something does not seem right to you, a sense of unease has blanketed the museum, a palpable dread that Dr. Bergen shall not be the last person to die here.
