Cell Phone noob question about charging it

should the phone be on or off while charging it? I just got a new phone and i have to charge it for the first time It just says plug it into the charger and says nothing about turning it on or off i assume the phone should be off? how do you tell when its full chargE? anyone could respond quick i would appreciate it before i go to sleep

    It doesn't really matter with Lithium batteries, which is what all cell phones have now.

    They're also equipped with non-volatile memory, meaning if you yank the battery out, shit doesn't disappear.

    It probably has a little animated charging icon appear on the screen, and when that stops moving is when you're phone will be charged

    I don't know about leaving it on or off for the first charge though, but for any charges afterwards you will probably be able to leave it on.

    It would also help if you told us what phone it is, as then others who own it can give you specific advice

    Doesn't matter. If it's off, the screen will come on to indicate it's charging and it's battery level.

    If it's on, the battery indicator on the normal screen will probably begin to pulse to indicate charging progress.
