Thief: Deadly Shadows. I. Cannot. Run.

So I bought Thief 3 for $18 off steam expecting a great time. Except, well, I cannot run. Like, sometimes I can (sporadic bursts) but my character is constantly in a "creeping" speed. So when standing i'm basically tiptoeing, and when crouched i'm at a snales pace. I tried messing with the "creep" and "walk" keys to no avail. When hitting the key for either of them, my character will shake his ass a little bit and nothing happens.

You just inspired me to install the game myself and didn't run (ohoho!) across any problems like that. It might be a problem with the Steam version of the game, or perhaps your keyboard. Sorry I can't be of more help; my version is from fileplanet.

Maybe it's one of those games where you have to hold the shift key or something in order to run? I dunno

Nah, you hold shift to walk and ctrl to walk even slower. You're supposed to run by default.

I'd recommend re-installing it, I've had similar things happen with other steam games, that resulted from an install error.

I found out the problem thanks to Mordrack.

Turns out I had my PS/2 plugged in which caused my controls to be funky. My wireless microsoft keyboard supports USB and PS/2, and I left the PS/2 in for reasons awhile ago but forgot to take it out. So now the problem is fixed.
