Inbox icon is telling me I have a new PM when I dont.

Both the icon on the upper right, as well as the inbox selection in my profile, are telling me I have a new PM to read.

But when I open my inbox there is no PM to read, its empty. I don't know if the notification itself is glitched, or if I have an actual message that is invisible.

I also can't clear the new PM notification.

Try going to near the end of your inbox. I remember that used to be a way to solve that...

sometimes that happens when a spam account that sent you a pm is deleted

Same. The papist guy sent one and it was deleted before I got to my inbox. Only reason I know is because it was copied to my email.

Thanks for the thread explaining this, I'd wondered if I was completely insane as well. So when they pop a spammer, it pulls PM's out of inboxes but can cause a bit of confusion for the recipients, I guess?

I went to my spam e-mail and the message was logged there, which clarified.

Yeah this should sort itself out shortly, it's a known problem. If it doesn't I can flush the cache for you.

I finally got around to reading the message in email, and first let me say that is pretty funny! If he had sent it on April Fool's day, I think it would have gone over very well.
But beyond that, the message flag is still up in my inbox. Do we need to request a cache clearing to get rid of it, or just wait it out?
It's only been about a week for me, but my OCD is just dying to get rid of a flag with 1 message unread.

EDIT: Huh. If I follow the email link to the message, it gets rid of the message flag. Good to know.

My guess is that there was a spammer PM'ing people. While the original message was deleted, the notification and inbox flag were still sent out as they can't be rolled back as easily.

Would sending yourself a PM clear it? I used to have the problem but cleared it by clicking the link in the notification email I got.
