Alternatives to BiblioExpress?

I have a job that requires me to put quotes from various books into something of a research database. This is not hard, but the software I've been using (BiblioExpress) is... lacking, to put it nicely. It crashes frequently and has all sorts of various errors and whatnot.

For those of you who have done stuff like this in the past, do you have something better I can use? (I'm on Windows XP, if that wasn't clear).

I've heard good things about Reference Manager, but it's rather pricey. My sister used it fairly extensively, though, and never had problems.
