I don't know how many baseball fans there are in here, but I was incredibly excited to see Daisuke Matsuzaka do AMAZING the other day. He reminded me of Pedro in the early years. Awesome!

I read about him in the paper this morning. I might actually tune in and check this cat out. I don't know anything about him but he has a pretty cool nickname and I hope he has personality. With a lot of Japanese baseball players it's all-business.

He laughs a hell of a lot more than Ichiro. I don't know if that means anything.
His pitching is AMAZING though. 95+ fastball, nastiest slider I ever saw (better than Johnson, no shit!), and a bevy of supplementing pitches that he throws well (change-up, splitter, screwball, sinker).
man, I think even I could pitch well against the Royals
10 strikeouts in 7 against ANY team is really fucking good. And, contrary to Nomo (who had a 91-92 fastball and a good splitter, and that was about it), Dice-K actually has amazing raw stuff, with a 95-97 mph fastball when he wants it (I've only seen him reach 96 once since being with the Sox, but he's hit 98 in Japan before - 159 kilometers, actually, according to the video I saw), super nasty split, and amazing change, and sinker and screw/gyro.

What he doesn't have, is the Nomo cool aspect of the no look windup. So really, he loses cool points for that and it will cost him the SI Man of the Year award.
Minnesota Twins, are going to the Series this year. NO DOUBT.
Nope, Tigers.
And I'm a Sox fan, so it hurts me to say that. But, definitely the Tigers.
I just got done laughing five minutes straight. Seriously, Twins are all up in the Central division. 3-0 already? Yes please. WE ARE GOING FOR THE PERFECT SEASON.

He gave up 6 hits though.
... And?
6 hits in 7 isn't bad. It's not amazing, yes, but it's certainly not bad.

Oh, God, you're one of THOSE.
Yeah, just watch the Sox for any of the past 7 seasons (excluding '04) and see how important it is to be amazing for the first 80 games. Because the Sox OFTEN lead, sometimes by a large margin, at the break, and they have yet to take the division.
And the Tigers are amazing, I don't know what the fuck you're laughing at.
Yeah, on wednesday I watched the tigers take a 9-0 lead into the 5th, so I run into town and do some stuff. I come back and nearly shit a brick because it was 10-9. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SQUANDER A 9-RUN LEAD! Fourtanetly they held on and won it but still, that scares me.
Can't we wait until after the NHL playoffs are over before we start caring about baseball? I can't follow two sports at once.
Well, you can feel free to stay out of the baseball threads until then, but I fucking HATE hockey, so for me, I haven't had a sport to follow since the Super Bowl, so I'm THRILLED that baseball season has FINALLY arrived.
misbehavin on

I was just trying to see what reaction I could get.
Also, I'm assuming you mean White Sox when you say Sox.
h5 dude, I'm looking forward to another awesome first half of the season followed by a terrible second half

Baseball is baseball... I'd kill for season tickets to any MLB team.

The Twins are garbage.

Fuck you, too.
Dude, it's 3 games into a 162 game schedule... Seriously, what the fuck? Don't be talking about the standings, just talk about the players.
Rangers clinched last night, wooooo

Fortytwo's blog about fatherhood, life, and everything.
You do know that the "gyroball" is pretty much a myth, right?
Matsuzaka doesn't use it, and those who do in Japan get maybe 2 inches of movement with it. If it doesn't hang.
Yeah
it's a myth
the article about Matsuzaka in SI a week or so ago was very interesting.
Hey everyone else EAT A BAG OF DICKS!

The gyroball isn't a "myth", it's just a screwball with a fancy name.
