I did a lot more pranking back before my 20s, when I started being unwilling to risk alienating people from my life just for a dumb joke. It's tough to tell what somebody won't take in stride, sometimes.
One year, shortly after I got married, I staged the apartment to look like it had been robbed, parked my car a ways away and when I saw my wife driving up I cracked the door open so it'd look like somebody had left it that way and was potentially still inside. Being the badass that she is, she bravely entered and started looking around for what the thief might have taken. I jumped out at her and did jazz hands to surprise and scare her. For April Fools.
She punched me in the nose as hard as she could.
It looks exactly like orange juice and I'm guessing tastes like cold, dead feet.
