so how exactly was tone "balanced"

Respawn have a interesting take on balance. In that they do not tell the userbase exactly what they've changed. I assume this is only with number tweaks rather than wholesale changes, since the latter would be obvious anyway.

I actually quite like this since there will be no bias on judging the changes, either negatively or positively.

I agree... The Destiny Forums and r/Destinythegame are cancerous after some patches because something has been adjusted by 0.01% and now it's been "nerfed into the ground" yada yada yada (context! Destiny is about the only pvp game I've played for over a year)... I like the idea that they've noted that something has been adjusted but don't list all the dials they've turned to do it.

It is still a little odd, because the patch notes do go on to mention some of the weapon balance changes in some detail at least.

If I had to have a guess at what has been done to Tone, I reckon the shield will have taken a nerf (if not maybe 1 or 2 other things, like maybe the splash damage the main weapon does to pilots).

Based on my match last night, I think the balance was that the enemy team gets an indicator where my tone has dropped in so that they can all converge and rip me to pieces en masse.

    ...Or I'm just bad...

But definitely one of those things.

You sort of need your team to take it upon themselves to support you on your Titan but the chances of this happening with randoms is typically slim.

I've lost count the number of times I've killed a pilot who had taken my battery only for a team mate to run off with it.

"Where were you 5 secs ago while this guy was rodeoing my Titan?"

I did laugh when one of my team mates got stood on by the bounty Titan not long after having done this to me.

My favourite is when I've picked up a battery and I'm alerting the friendly titans to the fact I have one, but they keep running away so I can't plug it in.

I kinda hate the lack of transparency on patch notes. It makes it hard to see just how light or heavy a tap they are giving something and ultimately just wastes stat hunters time as they play private matches to figure it out.

So I want to point out how cheap $3 is for the camo pack. It's for every camo for every weapon every titan in short everything. If this was gears of war that pack would cost $50 for everything and $5 for a single skin unlocked for a single weapon. So reasonable it's fucking madness.

TBF, GoW and CoD started that ridiculous skin pricing stuff. Really turned me off GoW3/Judgement at the time.

My only complaint is that I think the nose art ones are maybe a tad pricey?

But it's hard to complain about a game that frankly embarrasses every other model on the market.

It's 20 new matching skins for your pilot and Titan.

It won't unlock any of the previous skins.

I don't mind paying for some of this stuff tbh. The game is great and all future maps and stuff is going to be free. I haven't been asked to pay nearly as much again for a season pass of some kind. I think that kind of stuff should be rewarded.

Managed to play the new map tonight. Lot if fun although I slightly wish bounty had come up more often.

    Games played: 119
    Times MVP: 51
    Times top 3: 103

Feel pretty alright about those numbers. The stats page is fun.

Also I spent 4.98 and now I have a sloth banner and everything has cherry blossom camo, so that's good.

Hmm. I've won 56% of my games and in all of the wins I'm top 3... So I'm godly over half of the time but 44% of the time I play with my elbows while yelling unintelligible nonsense.

I honestly though the stats would be worse.

Sorry, it looks like I simply misunderstood (I should probably go to bed rather than read posts at that time of the day).

It was a rather pleasant surprise that I was able to find the pre-order code, which meant I got to see the new map.

I sort of wish that maybe the map's time of day could change; it would be interesting seeing some of these maps at night time tbh.

Awww yiss, Angel City is going to be so godamn awesome with the grappling hook.

It was already a parkour paradise in the TF1.

Really glad they've nerfed Cloak though, there's some nasty hiding spots in attrition on that level even without a semi-permanent invisibility cloak.

Sooooooo very much this. They could even con us by saying new maps incoming, but instead of three modes per map: daylight, dusk/dawn, midnight. Then add night vision to the A Cog so that people actually use it. I'd be happy as pie.

I'm also 100% behind the notion of "Pay to Look Perty" instead of "Pay to Win." Hawken did that a while back and it was incredible. I'm also more prone to purchase a $2 skin several times than to pay for a giant pack of things I may not really care about or even use *cough*Season Pass*cough*

Unlocked the Hemlok by levelling up and started using that instead of the L-Star.

First game I managed a 12/1 kills to death vs players.

The hemlock is really good at medium range

At close range, it's nice to be just hold the fire button and spray bullets

Seriously, if you like the hemlock, try being more disciplined with the trigger on the 201

I must admit, I didn't enjoy the campaign on the whole myself. I didn't feel like the encounter design was very conducive to wallrunning so it played more like a normal cover shooter than I'd have liked.

You don't have to kill all of the enemies in almost every scenario. Especially on the factory level once you realize this it actually makes it feel kind of awesome to just be running through the facility (killing plenty on the way) trying to get your robot back. The only time you really have to wipe out the enemy is the training simulator part where Ash throws some stuff at you and the bosses.

I thought another great "Oh shit!" moment was
"Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape" because I honestly didn't know the Smart Pistol was even in the game. Running through a level at top speed, bounding off of walls, effortlessly headshotting everyone as you go makes you feel like the biggest badass ever.

I literally squealed with joy at the start of that.

Yeah, when I found myself in a tight spot against overwhelming odds, I didn't hide behind a corner taking potshots at the enemy, I parkour'd my ass off to the objective. I felt like hiding behind cover would just get me killed, with all the grenades and ticks and reapers and exploding stalkers and such.

...is it bad that I still haven't completed the campaign? I'm almost to the first boss fight (me thinks). Playing the first run through on master is not forgiving in the least bit. I end up playing for about 30 minutes and then I go through Bounty Hunt withdrawal, so I ditch the campaign and spend the next 3 hours in MP. I'll finish it one day.

Master being the top difficulty? I honestly wouldn't recommend playing on this difficulty because the AI is brutal in how quickly you can die. I had to play in a very un-Titanfall way to complete it in this difficulty.

The other difficulties are much better and enjoyable and there are some amazing set pieces to see.

Yea in my quest for trophies over the years I've found that 9/10 times you will not have fun trying to power through the hardest difficulty the first time through. Theres the rare game where it stays fun, but it's usually not worth it.

Played 6 or 7 matches today and racked up 6 or 7 losses. Mostly landslides.

Every match had a guy on the other team who managed to score head and shoulders above the rest of the players. Like 2500-3000 in bounty.

I'm a potato, so me hitting top score occasionally for my team makes the matchmaking seem... poor.
