Question about bringing your own board games to the floor

zhruskzhrusk Registered User regular
So I'm packing for the plane flight and I have an entire carryon suitcase full of my favorite games. I can't wait to play these with people and...

wait...

This is my first time to this convention. Am I even allowed to bring a case of boardgames to the con? What if I want to head somewhere more crowded and want to leave it somewhere? Can I put it somewhere and be reasonably assured that it will still be there when I get back? What are the policies on this?

Anyone who's brought board games to the con before, or officials, what are the policies/resources available for this?

If PAX this year was like any other year, there will actually be a whole area dedicated to board games and card games. There should also be an area where you can borrow games from a large inventory so unless you have very obscure games, they will more than likely have em for rent (free). As for bringing your own games into PAX, it should be totally fine.

A whole case seems a bit... excessive in my opinion. It might not be a bad idea to bring a couple of them, and then maybe jump into someone else's game, try something new maybe.

And you can check a bag at certain locations, but there's a fee I think.

Well, at the very least I'll be bringing a design of my own for UnPub, and there were one or two requests that I intend to bring - but the point remains. I don't want to lug games around if I want to see the video game floor or travel around, so is there a place I can leave my games with some assurance that they won't be stolen/misplaced?

there is a bag/coat check, for a price. Otherwise no, there aren't any free use cubbies or anything like that.

Okay, thanks. I'll probably make sure to just bring a small bag that I can carry around some games with.
