I'm with Bendery! The Captain's a joke! I've had enough of his hollow promises and empty air.
I say, this thread is ours: we cast off our chains, and run up the Jolly Roger! All the wealth of the Spanish Main is out there, in ships fat and bloated with stolen Incan Gold. Did we not set sail from Tortuga Social Entropy, where the only law that holds is the law of the mighty? All this ocean could be ours, free of restriction and this petty captain. By tomorrow, we could be feasting on some fat merchantman, holds full of looted treasure and an equal share for all who sail aboard this deadly vessel thread. Who's with me, lads?
Space pirates are some of the best kind of pirates.
I've seen pictures of this before but I always just assumed it was the theme for the mechs; did not imagine they'd actually be running around on a giant pirate ship in pirate outfits.

That is a Baltimore Clipper, the prefered ship of American Privateers during the War of 1812.
This is Captain Thomas Boyle
His Clipper "Le Chasseur" was a scourge of the British Fleet. During the conflict he took down so many British ships in direct confrontation that he sent this letter to be posted on the doors of Lloyd's of London:
I do therefore, by virtue of the power and authority in me vested (possessing sufficient force) declare all the ports, harbors, bays, creeks, rivers, inlets, outlets, islands and seacoast of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, in a state of strict and rigorous blockade.
Duder decided to let the UK know that he, alone, was instituting a blockade of the British isles.

...Kinda wanna watch this now.
The name of the show is Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the 35th anniversary series for Super Sentai. The pirate theme doesn't simply cover them being space pirates but the fact that they're also 'borrowing' the powers of all the teams that came before them, clueless about the origins of these powers due to them being aliens.
There is an Power Ranger series which sort of adapts this series called Power Rangers: Megaforce. It may be best to be avoided though since due to Toei insisting Saban use the SS-footage in series order and Nickelodeon insisting Saban basically air a Power Ranger series in two 20-episode chunks aired near the end of one year and sometime past the beginning of the next, Megaforce is two SS-series crammed together. Gokaiger's footage is used in the second 20-episode portion, labeled Super Megaforce since they're handwaving the different suits and mecha as upgrades with no in-show explanation as far as I know WHY said upgrade went from angelic-themed gear to pirates.

Also my favorite pirate, Ben Hornigold:
Hornigold is recorded as having attacked a sloop off the coast of Honduras, but as one of the passengers of the captured vessel recounted, they did us no further injury than the taking most of our hats from us, having got drunk the night before, as they told us, and toss'd theirs overboard

But is pirate rap? I would kind of hope so, because I feel like raps are the natural inheritors of the sea shanty legacy
Dreamin'! Don't give it up, Luffy!
Dreamin'! Don't give it up Zolo!
There is a term "lubber" which refers to the line on the compass which you set to be your point of reference
So the term "land lubber" means one that absolutely must know which way it is he needs to go to return to dry land
Which would of course be worthy of ridicule to anyone at home in the sea, like say a pirate
Boats are pretty rad tbh
