The only thing of hers I saw that she didn't own was Gangster Squad, and everyone kinda sucked in that.
But yeah, I think she coulda made a nifty MJ.

Video footage of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 alternate ending hit the web today. Sony keeps yanking embeds, unsurprisingly, though we saw it here: Post. We’ve included a detailed description below.
The scene takes place toward the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2,
with Peter mourning at Gwen Stacy’s grave.
Suddenly, Richard Parker appears behind him, looking grizzled with a short white beard. Yes, that Richard Parker. The one who was supposed to have died in the plane crash shown at the start of the movie.
Initially, Peter seems upset, but he thaws as the two start talking. Richard apologizes profusely and explains that he had to disappear to avoid Oscorp and protect Peter. But naturally, all of the mysteries surrounding the dad’s supposed death and miraculous not-death are left open-ended because then there’d be no subplot to pick up on in the sequel.
Peter and his father hug, sit down on a bench, and talk some more. The dad gives a speech about how he thought he was going to save the world, but he now realizes that Peter’s the one destined to save the world. The conversation culminates in Peter’s dad delivering the “with great power comes great responsibility” line traditionally given by Uncle Ben.
Sony’s complete revamp of its Spider-Man franchise continues. First, the company moved The Amazing Spider-Man 3 back several years. Now, after Drew Goddard’s Sinister Six opens in 2016, Sony is planning to release a spin-off film starring one of Spider-Man’s female counterparts in 2017. There’s no word on which character it’ll be, though Spider-Woman and Black Cat are obvious options. Lisa Joy Nolan (Westworld, Pushing Daisies) has been hired to write. Read more about the female Spider man movie below.
Deadline broke the news and their story has a ton of info the Spider-Man franchise as a whole, including this major development.
Just...wow. That's a Spider-Man every year for the next 3-5 years...?
There’s some big movement going on in the Spider-Man series at Sony as the studio preps a new female-led film based around a Spider-Man character. While we don’t know which character will lead that film, there are two other Spidey spin-offs reportedly still in the works at the studio. One is Sinister Six, which Drew Goddard is scheduled to make for a 2016 release date. And the other movie is a Venom spin-off which now reportedly carries the title Venom Carnage.
Deadline mentions the title in passing, and says that Alex Kurtzman and Ed Solomon are still scripting, with Kurtzman still set to direct. (Kurtzman also has a Mummy film to make for Universal.) The reported release window is 2017, which would put Venom Carnage out in the same year as the female-driven film.
Well...Guess there's plenty of Spider-things coming in the future. No word on when the well is going to dry up fully, but I hear they're looking trying to extract liquids from stones soon. After they're done beating this horse...
Legacy on
Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
2.) Seriously? Fucking seriously? They're just gonna jump straight to throwing Carnage in there? Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson both are pretty involved characters that don't need any help being awesome. Venom writes movies all by his god damn self and the best they can do is the Spiderman equivalent of the Whitest Kids You Know "Two Chewbaccas" joke?
3.) Fucking Carnage!? Bluhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that guy is one of four horseman of "90s comics" awfulness.

Sure it's not 'Venom V Carnage?' Nyuk nyuk.
Who else would Venom fight but his crazier offspring? Eddie Brock doesn't really have any memorable enemies who are actually villainous.

Yeah, the only way a Venom movie is interested if it's Agent Venom.
Also man, Sony is freaking desperate to make some of that sweet, sweet superhero money aren't they?
What's sad is that they probably saw the huge opening of Guardians and took the wrong lesson. They figure if a team of comic characters no one had really heard about can make money, they can throw some of Spidey's supporting cast out there and rake in the cash.

The problem with Sony's idea is that the world they've created is not that interesting, and this is coming from someone who kind of liked Amazing 1 & 2. None of the villains so far are interesting enough for their own movie. Lizard was generic, Electro was dull, and Goblin was dumb...oh and Rhino doesn't even matter.
Venom hasn't even been introduced yet, and he gets his own movie before even meeting Spidey? Doesn't make much sense. And Carnage already?
Also, even though Spidey has some fantastic female side characters, how many can hold their own movie? Black Cat is a less interesting Catwoman (god I want a proper Catwoman movie), Silver Sable is awesome, but she would just be Shield-lite. Maybe a Wild Pack movie, but once again it would just be Shield-lite. Arachne? Madam Web? Spider-Woman? Silk?
None of these characters have been truly introduced or have the history to pull off their own movie. Silver Sable would be the best best.
As for Sinister Six...the only way I could see it work is to base it off the Superior Foes story. Have a small intro showing how they've been beaten by Spidey several times because they are all kinda terrible at being villains. They want to prove themselves. Make it a heist movie sort of like Ocean's 11. Make it a straight up comedy. This might work.
None of these characters have been truly introduced or have the history to pull off their own movie.
While Sony's track record makes me extremely doubtful they could pull it off Marvel has proven that characters don't need much history at all to be successful.

While I agree that I would trust Marvel to make something interesting more than I do Sony, everything Marvel has done so far has a lot of established history to pull from and not just as a secondary character from a Spider-Man comic. Even Guardians of the Galaxy, which wasn't widely known, still had years of history and several series of stories to pull from.
So the comparison doesn't really work, at least not yet. :P
Another thought about the Sinister Six movie. Make it a heist movie, and make Black Fox the grizzled old veteran that teaches them a thing or two about making a heist successful.
Spiderwoman and Black Cat both have literal decades of stories to pull from.
Black Cat maybe, but she has mostly been a foil for Spidey. Maybe I'm just not remembering right, but what villain would she even use?
As for Spiderwoman, you are correct, but the version that would be best suited for a stand alone movie would be Jessica Drew, and Marvel has her, not Sony. I actually would love to have her get a movie. Julia Carpenter though is just not an interesting character, unless they want to do the Arachne/Madam Web story, which might work.
I still think the best bet we have for a female hero helmed movie would be either Black Widow or Captain Marvel, and I really hope Marvel has these in the works.

Just saw ASM2.
What a schizophrenic film. Just bad pacing and wild tonal shifts all over the movie. When it works, it works like gangbusters. When it doesn't, all you can do is look at it and go "whhhhyyyyyyy?"
The Good
Most Spidermany Spiderman that ever Spider-Man'd. Seriously, this is my favorite interpretation of that character and not enough superhero movies go out if their way to show them helping random people.
Fighting Electro. Lots of imagination, fun choreography, and hell the score was a blast during those battles.
Peter and Gwen. The movie understands these two perfectly. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to understand anyone else, which leads to...
The Bad
Every character not named Peter Parker or Gwen Stacy. The movie has no idea how to write anyone else. The closest they come is the interesting 'jilted fan' approach to Electro, but then that's all forgotten and he gets generic'd to to hell. And speaking of...
Wasted Acting Opportunities. Jaime Foxx oozes charisma and is funny as hell. So why is he playing a character who goes from being interesting to just growling at everything? Know what uncast character I would've loved to see Jaime's take on? J Jonah Jameson. Also Paul Giamatti, who was apparently told that he just didn't eat enough scenery in Shoot Em Up and only masters of scenery devouring get to be the Rhino.
The Pacing. Oh my god in heaven this movie has no flow whatsoever. There's great bits with Spiderman doing things, there's great bits with Peter and Gwen doing things, there's great bits with Peter and Harry talking, and there's great bits with Spiderman and Electro fighting it out. In between those great bits? A wasteland where momentum goes to die. And what's up with the last twenty minutes essentially being the first act of ASM3?
All in all, it was a movie with great parts and bad parts. I'm glad I watched it, but it's looking like Sony is trying so very very hard to catch lightning in a bottle like Marvel did and it's just not going to happen.

Bought Amazing Spider-Man 2 on bluray and my family watched it tonight.
First time my wife and kids saw it and they enjoyed it a lot.
It was my second time seeing it, and my thoughts are probably the same:
Is it a great movie...not really. Is it even a good movie...not really.
However, Gwen is amazing throughout. This version of Spider-Man is the very best we've seen on film. He fights and moves the way I would expect. He jokes, he mocks, he changes when he's behind the mask. That is all awesome. Also Sally Field as Aunt May is pretty great also.
On the other hand, the story is barely there, the villains were either one note or rushed, the motivations were all ok-ish, the obvious 'to be continued is obvious', the parents story is still dull and dumb, and the movie is filled with unnecessary scenes like the opening plane scene and the whole planes going to crash into each other scene.
I personally enjoyed the movie because Stone and Garfield are fantastic in it. They have amazing chemistry and their scenes are fun to watch. Even though the villains are boring, the action scenes are not. They are fast and fun to watch.
Personally I adore Raimi's movies. They haven't aged well and Toby is a pretty terrible Peter, but the villains were memorable, the overarching story of the Osbornes was superbly done, Doc Ock is still one of the best villains put to screen, Defoe is awesome, Franco was great, Bruce Campbell was awesome, and they actually used the term 'with great power comes great responsibility.' To me they were superior in almost every way.
If only Garfield's Spider-Man was placed over Toby's it would be the perfect combination to me.

She would have had 100% more success than Toby Maguire in not looking like she was going to cry every time she was on screen
Oh man just had an image of the next Amazing Spider-Man film having all the Characters Played by Emma Stone.
