Ahh I see, so in demo scores aren't terrible, and overall numbers aren't bad. Well good.

I don't think the ratings are the best, but I have no idea fox is also a network that runs such abysmal shit like the following, its hard to guage.

24 isn't genre, therefore shielded from typical Fox politics. They really love screwing with genre tv shows there.

They also greenlight way more genre shows than anyone else. Fox gets a bad rap.

Their rep for genre shows wouldn't be so dire had they cared enough to manage them properly, not cancel them so much it's a punch line whenever a new genre show gets green lit.

Seriously. I mean sure they killed Almost Human which I liked, but they kept on Sleepy Hollow, which I also liked! If these shows had an audience somewhere else they would be picked up, but they don't, so they aren't. But its best not to go the dumb firefly tangent we have an entire thread devoted to it.

So anyway 3 hours left, who you got on your death card? I'm figuring Mini Terry Crews will be next.

Aw. I'm starting to like him. But you're right, they haven't given him a lot of personality other than asshole who hates Sarah Walker and those who want Sarah Walker to quit the CIA have a death sentence.

I know, I was starting to like him too, but he's boned. I mean we already lost Jordan (man rough night for my namesake, dies on 24, gets kicked off master chef), so MTC is doneski.

That's not necessarily indicative of his survival here - they film 24 in no time at all. (hooo)

Like, there was a week between them filming the teaser trailer and it debuting online. That was a shot with a ton of effects and such that the majority of the show doesn't usually need. They crank these episodes out.

    Oh brilliant

Oh, oh, I forgot my absolute favorite moment of the episode!
When Heller comes back to the office and the British PM is all, "Thank you so much for your willingness to sacrifice yourself Mr. President," and Heller is all "NBD, you would've done the same for me, brah!" And then the PM gives him this look:

    Another perfect 24 moment:
Jack and the guy fighting on the roof. Jack ducks down one side, guy slowly creeps on him, and instead for jumping out... Attack from above!

Just an all around great episode.

Finally watched last night's ep and I came when Jack threw Margot out of the window. Pure unadultered badass Bauer fanservice.

Also, the silent clock is gospel.

Like that was the most hardcore Bauer moment since killing the pedophile in S2 and Nina's "You don't have anymore useful information do you?" execution in S3.

so did margot know jack then? she seemed to instantly recognize him and i don't think she mentioned him or was aware of him during the season so far but i could be wrong.

That was pretty rad, but one small complaint
Heller looked to the right and? Teleported? Performed the trick from the Prestige? Exploded and sent his mind into the body of his twin? I've got missile dodge blue balls here, how did he do it? Please don't tell me Jack just called him and he wandered off like a puppy...

Heller stood there for a couple minutes, then right before the missile strike, Jack presumably ran out to him and pulled him back once Chloe informed him she'd looped the footage.

They couldn't show it happening since 24 doesn't do flashbacks. ;D

    Oh brilliant
  • PreacherPreacher Registered User regular
    In a way.

It was margots fault, if she's fired the missile immediately like her son wanted, Heller wouldn't have had a chance to get away.

24 does do flashbacks right before every damn episode they give you the Alzheimer recap.

Welp just caught up and I was wrong. Made up for by the fact that episode was PRIMETIME Bauer Power Hour material. An excellent shootout followed by an awesome Renegade Interrupt (twice!) followed by an awesome chase. I wonder... does Jack end up killing Mark for treason by the end of this season? SURELY there won't be a "Jack hangs around to get with Audrey" ending, that would be just too much of a stretch from how bad his life has been up to now.

Fuck, now I want a video with the renegade interrupt button flashing before Jack kills Margot.

I hope the final scene in the series is
Kate going rogue with Jack, just after she shoots Navarro in the head and he kills all the chinese.

If they were never going to show Kate's husband because he killed himself off screen, they should have just made it a picture of Zach Levi. Or Michael C. Hall. That would have been layers, man.

The whole thing with Tate aka Mark is, like, my least favorite part of this series.

Mostly because I like him as a character. Tate makes him very sympathetic, too much so. It makes his decision to forge Heller's signature even more crazy pants stupid.

I mean, if you're going to do this, you have to make me hate that character, so that I look forward to when he inevitably gets caught. That's the opposite of what I want!

    What a good season.
I didn't think the show had it in them to pull off another twist villain, much less a really old returning one, but that Cheng reveal was perfect and he upped the stakes immediately with that attack on the Chinese carrier. I wasn't particularly excited about Adrien Cross being the new big-bad after the death of Catelyn Stark, but I didn't see something like this coming at all.

The scene where Jack and Kate tricked Navarro was great; those two characters who are not actors were doing some really good acting! Kate was doing more amazing work with her Jack Bauer impression, and I really would not have been surprised if Jack had shot her right then. He's done it before. Speaking of Kate, the development and resolution of her husband story was really well done. Navarro really did a number on her life with that. Career ruined, Kate blames herself for not seeing how evil her husband was, husband commits suicide because his wife doesn't believe his innocence, Kate blames herself for not believing her innocent husband. Ouch.

I also loved the reverse reveal about Chloe's family. After a series of surprises this episode, when Cross leaned in to confess something about the death of Chloe's family, I actually might have rolled my eyes a bit. It was twist overload. And then the twist was that nothing actually happened. Their death was just an accident. Not everything is part of a larger conspiracy, even in 24 land.

Until its revealed next episode that the driver of the truck was Zombie Charles Logan, out for revenge.

So damn good, Black Tony can't handle two Jack Bauers. Still waiting for when Serbian Tony returns (we have both sides of Tony this season, in charge in haste Tony, and fuck it go for broke Tony). Only way for this season to get even better is if real Tony also emerged to be Tony Tony.

    Tony.

Also it was nice for the show after they gave us "Damn Keifer you still got it." They did the same thing for Benjamin Bratt. So two flavors of man candy this year for the ladies.

Benjamin Bratt chewed the hell out of the scenery when he demanded immunity. Like I'm pretty sure if you go to that set, the walls will be missing.

When was the last time we saw Tony? End of Season 7? I think he was just taken into custody, iirc. Considering this season is basically 24's greatest hits, I would totally not be surprised if Tony showed up in one of the last two episodes.

So much scenery chewed, but I'm sure it was just fun for Bratt to have that duality of a scene with Keifer. Though I'll admit Keifer came out the better for it in both instances.

I also give so much credit to the writers this season.

They are actually dealing with the russian threat this year, not putting it off and having it be some thing at the end of the season. And they realized Cross was way too weak to be an overall villain, so he wasn't. Boom done.
