Alright, I'm having some trouble with my cellphone service provider this morning that's continuing to now. Really annoying stuff, and I'm not sure what the problem is. As far as I can tell, I'm receiving voicemail, but I can't dial out to retrieve it. I've received no notice in any form of any kind of service interruptions or anything.
I only have the cell phone and no land line. I'm involved in a legal case right now, and I need to be able to get to my voicemail. So I figure if I'm receiving voicemail, I might be able to dial my phone from somewhere else and get into the system. So I'm looking at VoIP from my computer. I've examined Google Voice, but when I linked up my cell number, it just stops, clearly related to whatever problem is going on. What I need is a free and reliable (i.e., not shady) service that I can use to call my number from my computer and try to retrieve my voicemail. I found a Lifehacker article that recommended Sipgate, but they seem to have shut down last year.
Help, the clock is ticking to get those voicemails.

If it's really urgent, you might consider just running to the store and plunking down $10 or whatever for a prepaid cell phone as they're dirt cheap these days.
Also you may want to use the Verizon site to set up the call fowarding to that Google Voice line so you can definitely get to your new voice mail messages.
The burner phone would be my recommendation too. Don't need a lot of minutes and can access anywhere.
How many bars on the service indicator?
Check online to make sure there are no blocks, no lost and stolen restriction placed on the device and that the device active on the line is still the correct device.
Cel phone towers only have a range of a few miles. If you go somewhere and suddenly you're able to dial out, it's a service issue. Likewise, if you've driven all the way across town and you still have no service, it may be a phone issue. If you think it's your phone, try activating a different phone on the line.
