Plagiarism and Internet drama, etc.

To sum things up for you, SA contributer Shmorky (all around prolific guy with roots throughout the internet) was informed about a complete plagiarism of one of his earlier works by Todd "Goliath" Goldman, the "Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them" guy.

The work in question was a Purple Pussy comic strip from 2001, here's a comparison:
purplepussy_ripped.png

It may not be the Mona Lisa, but this is a blatent ripoff! I think it's outright maddness that this sort of thing happens, but I guess it happens all the time on scales much much larger than this. Anyway, I'd hate it if anything like this ever happened to me, so I'm just raising awareness.

It's already got a thriving Digg-a-mabob, and if you're still curious there's much more info in the first link.

(Hey SE++! This is my first topic, be gentle. MAN I hope I got to this topic first. I did a search of the forum and everything!)

The point of this thread should be to type. Each post more retarded than the last.

Mountweazel [mownt-wee-zul] a fake word or name invented by reference-book editors to trap plagiarists. It comes from Lillian Virginia Mountweazel, whose (fake) entry in an edition of the New Columbia Encyclopedia was a triumph of the form. ("Mountweazel" died in an explosion while on assignment for Combustibles magazine.)

erinaceous [err-i-nay-shuhs] an adjective meaning 'like a hedgehog.' It is mostly used in a zoological sense but cries out for a figurative use to describe people with prickly or bristly manners.

well contrary to popular belief, putting a thing onto the internet does not somehow absolve it of copyright

it is a publishing medium just as viable and protected as print

the attitude that 'if you don't want things stolen, don't put them on the internet' is apologist bullshit akin to the 'she was dressed like a slut, she was asking to be raped' defense

I go around here and see nice shits where the logo is on the side of the shirt or wrapped around it or just on a breast... not centered like most used to be.... and having not gone cloths shopping in a good year beyond office cloths i need some shit to wear while i am out with friends and shit.

    but not black emo crap
