Sooo tech people, did this queue stop people from simulating multiple machines to buy up tickets? (I know NOTHING, btw, just that seems like the obvious attack in my mind)
It seems weird that even with 5 separate yearly events worldwide, tickets still sell out in a matter of minutes. How can the demand be that strong all the time all year every year?
We'll get back there someday.

Sooo tech people, did this queue stop people from simulating multiple machines to buy up tickets? (I know NOTHING, btw, just that seems like the obvious attack in my mind)
Greetings! Due to the high demand for badges, you've been put into our ticket queue, which serves as an online waiting room. Don't worry, we know what order you came in, so you'll get your fair shot at ordering badges. Once it's your turn, you'll get kicked over to a different page where you'll have 8 minutes to complete your transaction. Good luck, and thank you again for coming to PAX!
Get ready – this page will automatically take you to the ticketing system when it’s your turn to purchase tickets!
How does this queue thing work?
We use the queue to make sure that tickets are sold in an orderly and fair way. Customers enter the queue in the order in which they arrive after the on sale begins. When you are placed in the queue, a unique cookie identifies you and allows us to hold your place in line.
As long as your browser is open, you will not lose your place and you will be automatically taken to the checkout process when it is your turn, without needing to refresh.
What if I get an error page?
Getting an error page will not result in you losing your place in the queue or tickets in your cart.
The queue is made of many, many servers. In the unlikely event that you get an error page, it is possible that you landed on a misbehaving server or group of servers. This is why we painstakingly monitor for misbehaving servers and take them out on the fly.
If you encounter an error, just refresh once or twice. There is a good chance you'll be returned onto a behaving server. If the error persists, please do not continue to refresh repeatedly — you'll risk getting throttled or blocked.
What happens if I refresh?
The queue page will automatically take you into the checkout when it is your turn, so you should not need to refresh. Refreshing does not improve your odds of getting through the queue.
If you do refresh, you will keep your place in line. That said, our load balancers will automatically throttle and even block users that it deems malicious, so don't go overboard spamming your Refresh button.
What are the technical requirements for the queue?
To properly maintain your place in the queue, your browser must support cookies and javascript.
All current major browsers support these features by default, so unless you explicitly turned the features off, you'll be fine. The queue page will let you know in advance if we detect that your browser is incompatible.
don't know if it worked to stop them, but it sounds like they tried.
Just got my tickets, 4 day passes are already sold out.
you gotta be kidding me
everyone raise your hand if you're completely unsurprised by them selling out instantly
I just wish my past 4 pax's hadn't gone as follows:
Pax East 2013 - Wedding
Pax Prime 2013 - Wedding
Pax East 2014 - Wedding
Pax Prime 2014 - 2 weeks after wife's due date (I suppose this one was my fault)
Link removed. It went to an EBAY listing for tickets.

to be fair, failing to get a pass to this will at least avoid some family drama
wasn't looking forward to telling my Mom that I'd be out of town for her birthday on plane tickets purchased by my father (they've been divorced since I was 2, and it was never particularly amicable)
I thought 3 and 4-day passes have comprised a smaller % of the actual number of tickets available for each event at least going back to say 2013, in the interests of allowing more people to theoretically attend (at least individual days). There's just still a crazy amount of demand, as GSM pointed out.
does Seattle plan to ever expand their Convention Center?
i know San Diego is struggling to keep Comic-Con in town. political battles and environmental concerns slowed down any efforts to expand the SD Convention Center for years. is PAX enough of a revenue generator to make Seattle notice?

Just got "Tickets are going incredibly fast, please be aware that if you are reading this message you are on the fringes. You may or may not get a ticket"

At that point I'll have a 6 month old, but the case could be made. Not touching that conversation with a pregnant wife at this time though. Depends on how warm Texas will be.
BaidolI will hold him offEscape while you canRegistered Userregular
All passes except Monday gone. I clicked in at ~10:20 am PST and waited 28.5 minutes to clear the queue. Looks like I am spending this August relaxing at home that weekend.

that was my plan all along! who's floor/couch can I sleep on?
holy crap, now I'm gone from unsurprised to "uhhh, things are selling out incredibly fast this year"
I would if I still had frequent flyer miles left. No Prime for me this year.
I don't think I'll ever be in a position where I could justify the cost.
