I'm a very old man - 14th wedding anniversary today, been together for 18 years. Pretty crazy actually. It's kind of startling that someone would be foolish enough to tolerate me for this length of time.

my relationship update is that i am looking at rings
i am excited! also nervous!!! Both of these things!!!!!
That would be the best - "It says here that you're 23 Mr. Papageorgio? You look more like mid-30s"
Nah - just that we never go out and do anything without a kid. It was nice dinner or gamble, the cost is the same so we either eat and poop out the money or gamble and have a chance at coming out ahead on money...we chose option 2.
I'm finally entirely moved into my new place and I think I've more or less come to terms with being single.
Also Mario Kart and Lagers have been happening a lot at my place lately, which is always a good thing.
Yeah, I was getting ready to head home the other day and realized that aside from having to take care of a bunch of unwanted pets, I was looking forward a bit to coming home to an empty house.
I'd like for both my kids to be there all the time, but since I can't win that fight anymore than I already have, no sense crying over it.
My relationship with my girlfriend is going really well! We're at 3 years, soon to be 3 and a halfish. She's living on campus over the summer, so I don't get to see her as often as I would like, but this weekend we've got a wedding we're going to and a baseball game with her mom/brother the day after, so that'll be nice.
And it might be overstating things a little, but (spoilers for some pretty personal stuff)
Sometimes I feel like she's the only reason I'm still alive. I've had some pretty serious depression and thoughts of suicide now and then, but she's what always brings me back up.
She's pretty much the best, and damn, I can't wait to marry her.
We're setting the move-in date for a few months from now, so we have ample time to prepare, save up, and make the transition as smooth as possible. Coordinating what furniture/housewares we each have, what we need, what our respective financial situations are. Taking ample time to find a place we're both happy with, so we're not rushed into somewhere shitty.
The whole thing is just nauseating mature and responsible. Gross.
Getting married in a Catholic church later this year
so apparently we have to take a FOCCUS test tomorrow night.
is this some kind of test that the catholic church makes you do to make sure you fit their relationship standards?
like, if you fail the test are you not allowed to get married in their churches?
I checked out the website and it's not strictly catholic, nor pass/fail.
My understanding is that we have to take it separately, answering agree/disagree/uncertain, then it identifies opposing answers as something we should discuss. I guess the church just wants some reassurance that couples have discussed / thought about certain things?
I'm not sure why that's their business but whatever, just another hoop to jump through.
My girlfriend (sorry) passed her NCLEX yesterday, so i can now officially call her a nurse! So happy for her! Things have been going peachy, we went to disneyworld a month back, which was amazing, have a trip in July planned for a wedding in Oregon! We've started to do a weekly home cooked meal on weekends, the only times we aren't super busy with work and commutes. Also we've taken to waking up early Saturday mornings and going on long morning hikes through old town alexandria for a few hours, she is the best! Sorry if this is braggy, I'm just so twittipated that I wanted to share!

I'll get her a fancy card and maybe the hammock she has been wanting since she's preggers and wants a comfortable way to sit outside and relax.
