The Vanishing of Ethan Carter: Weird Fiction Horror Adventure Game
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a first person "weird fiction" horror adventure game. You are Paul Prospero, a detective who is in Red Creek Valley to try to find out what has happened to Ethan Carter and why people are being murdered. Also you have "supernatural skills.
I'm glad you asked! The developers are using magical technology to scan the world and turn it into a computer game. It's called photogrammetry (aka witchcraft) and this post explains how it works. Basically by magic.
This is being made by people who used to work at People Can Fly, who you may remember from Painkiller and/or Bulletstorm. Or not. I'm not really sure what you remember. They call themselves The Astronauts now.
The game is coming out for PC and maybe other stuff. The goal is to bring the game to next gen platforms. I don't think there's a release date yet.

This looks completely different than anything People Can Fly have done. I'm not complaining, this is just a pretty radical departure from hyperbolic first person shooters.
But then again, this isn't PFC, this is The Astronauts. Anyway, I'm super intrigued!
Trailer post mortem blog post. My favorite detail is how vastly they overestimated the average gamer's intelligence. Attributing thoughts, feelings, and logical patterns of reasoning to someone is else far beyond the capacities of the average person posting YouTube comments on a video game trailer.

man i am hyped as shit for this shiz
i cannot wait to run around moodily in a beautiful valley
also i echo this fair maidens sentiment
Man why there is no fight in this game, i love weird fiction and lovecraft but walking is so boring, i am no scary ifi cant die, i am not happy if i cant fight, you game will be so boring man, do better game, i want gun, knife man not just walking and thinking it is so boring.
Ending ruined it. The twist was predictable from the off and the ending of it just goes nowhere interesting, I don't really understand the reviews praising the plot element of it. I appreciate the relative freedom, and the ghost recreations, but they switch off what was an interesting story element for a bland resolution that ignores everything that came before.

my boners are ready
Umf, they're saying all the right things...
Also, you're not fooling anyone, you know. You only started this thread for the double bird crow-on-pigeon action you've got going in the OP.

Ok, that last line/question of that bit. My mind's blown.
