It was a great game in general, I quite enjoyed the story.

The side missions were darn weird and the date with Paz was straight bad, the date with Kaz was fun, forcing souls back into their bodies so you could recruit good chefs was funky, and saving soldiers that were being abducted by balloons while hilarious music plays in the background was great.

it bugs me that the F isn't mirrored

there's a scene in ground zeroes right at the start where skull face climbs into a jeep, and the camera is looking at the the side mirror, which skull face looks at while he smooths out the XOF patch on his jacket

and like

the whole point of that should be that when you see it in the mirror it says FOX!

while we're on the subject on metal gear, gotta say that I'm disappointed that the new metal gear is just a proto-REX like zeke. like, i'm cool with the MGS universe having advanced anachronistic tech, and the designs of TX-55 and D probably should be revised anyway if they get to that point, but dammit i like the REX design a bunch. the effectiveness of its design and in-universe status as state-of-the-art is diluted by having so many almost-REXs, its borrriiinggg. look at the jumps from the shagohod to REX to RAY, gimme more variety in your nuclear-equipped walking deathmobiles.

MGS2 is one of the best-written games of all time and games have only recently begun to surpass it in quality

and it definitely does not assume that MGS1's story was any good

Eh, at 4.7% ABV it isn't great for that. It is cheap but there is cheaper. It straddles an awkward middle ground where it does nothing well, in my opinion.

But also my taste in beer skews dark and strong, I like beers that are around 9% ABV, sometimes more even.

I was randomly caught by what happened to be her instead of another guard

And on subsequent playthroughs I remembered which guard it was based on the pattern
