Good music CD burning software

SteevSteev What can I do for you?Registered User regular
Father's Day is coming up, and my dad has recently been asking me if I know any good music CD burning software that also utilizes CD text. He listens to a lot of classical, so CD text lets him see the specifics of a track on his CD player while it is playing. It seemed logical to seek out some commercial software for him, especially after trying to find the free equivalent, but I have no idea what's good for that sort of thing these days. I don't really use music CDs anymore except to rip them to my mp3 collection when I buy one. Any of you have any suggestions for some good CD writing software that I could send to him as a gift?

What OS are you on? I made a few CDs for my Mother, and found that Windows Media Player pretty much covered the job, including being able to add Track names, Composer etc.

He's using Windows 7, but he told me that Windows Media Player specifically does not write CD-Text information to a music CD.

Can his CD player work with CD-ROM discs, rather than CD-audio discs? If so, he can use anything decent ripper and just burn it onto a CD-R via Windows. My preference is FairStars, ripped to FLAC.

If he really needs CD-audio discs, Nero is the old standby.

I think his CD player does work with CD-ROM discs and even a USB stick, but he doesn't really like using it that way. He's a bit old fashioned with that stuff.

I'll look into Nero. I remember using that program about 10 years ago...I didn't realize it was still around.
