[Marvel] - Introducing Marvel LATER!
Posts
Honestly, I'd like a break from that kind of expansive and lengthy storytelling after Hickman for a little bit. I've only read a few odds and ends issues by Al Ewing, but he'd totally fit the bill in changing the tone up in a good way. Also, Dennis Hopeless is a beast, and I hope Marvel has more waiting for him than a Greg Land Spider-Woman book. I'm not sure if Hopeless would get the Avengers voices right, but he could be a good choice as well.
Aw, that's bittersweet.
The story has been alright but without Moore's art it doesn't hold its own on my pull list
Half the people flipping their shit on the internet don't even read Thor's current comic. Sigh.

I write about video games and stuff. It is fun. Sometimes.
3 issue Axis: Carnage mini by Rick Spears with German Peralta on art
3 issue Axis: Hob-Goblin mini by Kevin Shinick with Javier Rodriguez on art
4 issue "Axis Revolutions" mini by Dennis Hopeless with Ken Lashley on art
4 issue "Deadpool: Art of War" mini by Peter David with Scott Koblish on art
Also the Death of Wolverine: Legacy, Death of Wolverine: Captain America and Deadpool, Deathlok and Guardians of the Galaxy 3000 books mentioned earlier.
Thunderbolts is ending.
No Silver Surfer solicitiation.
There's a Marvel Star Wars omnibus coming out
But Marvel is being weird with their solicits and keeping stuff like the Thor relaunch and, presumably, what Iron Man is going to be post-Gillen out of the solicits so they could just be waiting for an announcement
Last week they did the Cap tease
This week is Thor
Then Tony next week before the Comic-Con onslaught
Hmmm....
Aha! Toldja!
Dang, must be a big overhaul/shake-up. I'm intrigued.
Yeah, I can feel it winding down but it's definitely going out with a bang. It's been a helluva ride ever since they dumped Daniel Way.
Pretty much everyone getting mad doesn't know shit about Thor at all, they're just mad because "ehrmagerd women." Meanwhile, everyone else familiar with the character has kinda reacted the same way: "Ok, he's been an alien space horse before too so sure, whatever." Judging by the press releases it sounds like she's gonna be another Beta Ray Bill anyway so it's not like anything too wild is going on here.
I just can't wait for the inevitable triple Thor team up with this Thor, OG Thor, and Beta Ray Bill.
I hope those dudes land a proper long form ongoing gig. They are super talented
I guess odds are it's going to be an angel from Angela's world, since they're actually Asgardians now.
I do find it a bit thick the whole "This is Thor, no Thorita," only because Thor is still around, just not worthy and probably using that Celestial killing axe and he's always been Thor. I mean, she is going to be called Thorita or something just to differentiate, like Bucky Cap or Spock, pushing back on that angle is a bit odd.
There's nothing odd about it at all. There's a difference between fan shorthand and identities in the stories themselves. For the purpose of the story, she's Thor. What fans call her to differentiate her from all of the other versions of Thor is an entirely different matter.
Might need to take some athpirin.
I'm not one of them as in I do read the current Thor and I'm not happy if this means the current Thor becomes a nothing because of this. Create a new awesome female character! All behind it. But they're POSSIBLY taking away a comic book character I love to do it. So I'm at least dropping Thor from my box and taking out Marvel until I understand what is happening entirely. Thor and Wolverine are my FAVORITE Marvel characters and really the only ones I have a vested interest in.
As such, you can imagine that this year sucks for me.
Now this is mostly fear on my part since no one seems to know yet what happens to normal Thor outside of "he makes a mistake and is no longer worthy" but those words don't fill me with hope. Maybe he'll at least still be an asgardian and not drained completely of all his powers but ... I'm running out of hope.
tldr; Hurray new things for people to like! Boo taking away things that people already like.
This is absolutely crazy. So you're dropping Thor before it even gets to the new run, simply because you don't know what will happen?
It's an arc. Thor is still around--they've said as much, and showed him with his axe. He'll still be in the universe, but not going by Thor.
Are you just "running out of hope" because it's a woman? If it were a male taking up the hammer, would you be more inclined to think it'd be interesting? This is an honest question, because you didn't give any reason.
What is it that makes Thor stories interesting to you? Cause if it's Asgardian God of Thunder who smites dudes with a hammer, pretty sure you'll still be getting that even with a woman.
SamCap?
Probably. It's Colbert, so Captain America is a great guess.
I was once in that vein long ago, but the shuffle happens so much that I don't have the energy to be angry.
I liked Prodigy, he came back. Scarlet Spider, halfway back. Wall West is gone, but I don't particularly hate new Wally West for it. Connor Hawke was gone, but he's back in Earth-2, or dead again... I can't tell. Dan Ketch was gone, back, and dead again. Ghost Rider was a lady and now he drives a car. There's just this constant ebb and flow of companies taking away characters I enjoy, bringing back characters I enjoy or hate, or making new characters I enjoy or hate. Just let it wash over you.
Honestly, I guess I follow writers more than anything else now.

The identity of the new Thor is a secret to just about everyone but her, although God of Thunder is a good place to start looking for suspects.
Thor Odinson, as he will be called, won't be the lead but will still be a big part of the book. Aaron says running into his past and future selves during the God Butcher arc threw off the timeline somehow and now he's off the charted path and becoming something of an amalgam of the three of them.
Aaron very intentionally avoided using Loki for his run on God of Thunder but is bringing him in on the relaunch.
The first story will have New Thor fighting off an invasion of Frost Giants on Earth.
But hey, Thor will be back as the God of Thunder at some point.
So yeah I am making a few assumptions, but at the same time they release this info to get people jazzed up. If it doesn't get people jazzed up that's a fair response too.
Might be great, you never know. I'll read it and find out.
