Congrats on poisoning the local river. Hopefully all the children get their water from...somewhere else.

Ahhh, is Seventeen going to remember her past?! :D

    Tough kitty, btw.

That last line is so perfectly macabre; I can't wait for the next arc! Also, really wish the kitty was in the fourth panel.

Where'd he get all the whistles?

15 panels, each of them a winner.

This one's scary. What if the box instead contained chloride tablets?

  • marsiliesmarsilies Registered User regular
I love how Colin blows a whistle at the box, like the box is going to listen and shape up.

Huh, I have a bad feeling about this. I hope Brian has completed his alone time because I have a feeling that Seventeen may need his support.

Took me awhile to figure out that she thought it was candy because she can't read. I guess that's why we have big skull & crossbones labels on things.
    (and childproof containers)

i wonder if Colin's back story now incorporates how his dad gave him each of those whistles when he was 'sent to leadership school' out in the woods...

... and diabolical, simply diabolical, i say, Katie, how you established 17's illiteracy in the nick of time so that today's comic has a nice 'a-ha' moment on the last row, instead of a dumbfounding, "huh, i don't get it; what just happened?' one.

Kitty seems curious as well, I expect very wierd things going on next week with the Elephant Candy.

    Oh boy. Ohhhhhh boy.
There's basically no chance that seventeen isn't going to have a mental breakdown in the next few updates.

I think it's a callback to the end of the whistle arc where a big crate of whistles fell in a supply crate.

With that many pills, she will remember even her past lives. Or go straight to the next one. (too dark? I don't even know anymore. This comic has screwed up my brain)

Oh, Colin. Old habits die hard I guess.

The "Elephant Candy" panel is inspired. The idea that as a kid she just decides what it says rings so true! :)

Did you know elephants have the best memory in the animal kingdom?

A good memory doesn't help you when a hunter blows your brains off to get your tusks.

(edit) friggin cat was tough today...

This is a brilliant comic Katie - nicely done. I really like that the set up goes back several strips.

Then how does one take these? O_o

  • VanDerSparVanDerSpar Registered User regular
@XUSAKO There's an alternate opening far below in your body, which is often in general better to take pills through, though not as pleasant. The mucous membrane in the rectum absorbs the pills better, and they don't have to go through your stomach acid first.

    Oh boy

  • WaxxyOneWaxxyOne Registered User regular
@VANDERSPAR Or it could just be printed on a sticker that also says the pills are being recalled for being "too effective."

  • monkmunkmonkmunk Registered User regular
    "RECALL
    Too effective"

There are freaking amazing word jokes hidden in this comic almost as often as there are cats.

Hopefully none of those bottles were open, or else all of those extra-effective pills will dissolve into the camp's river, which I assume to be their source of water, and we'll be getting EVERY BACKSTORY EVER.

  • ProwlingmonkeyProwlingmonkey Registered User regular
I'd like to think that each of those whistles has a different tone meaning a different violation.

  • JortalusJortalus Registered User regular
    Hahaha, all those whistles!

  • Talyn RahlTalyn Rahl Registered User regular
Oooh Seventeen, you're too adorable for words... Glomf away brave soul, glomf away!

And I'm guessing we're getting a whole heeping dose of backstory soon? Maybe even a real name for Seventeen?

P.s. Whistle guy sucks... Is also vaguely scary "There's no place for memories at Camp Weedonwantcha"... Incredibly sinister thing to say.

    P.p.s. Found the kitty!
