Cheap Java development laptop

GrizzlyBeerGrizzlyBeer Registered User regular
Hi All,

Unfortunately we don't have admin rights on our local boxes at work which makes development nearly impossible, we can go back an forth to the lab and/or bring in personal laptops/devices(just not connect them to the network). I'm tired of walking back an forth to the lab and at this point am looking for a cheap laptop I can use for Java development and just write it off on my taxes. Price wise I am looking to spend no more than $400 and would like to be able to run 1-3 virtual machines on it for different environments I may need. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

Thanks

I don't think you're going to find anything remotely enjoyable to run that many VMs on for $400, but I guess "enjoyable" is relative

You'll be looking at something heavier and with some pretty serious dedicated cooling since your CPUs will be spiked 24/7

    Lenovo comes to mind
