what about the concept of 1000 dollars sitting unclaimed in the form of a cosmetic item in a house

Theoretically, physical items have intrinsic value that isn't entirely contingent on the popularity of a single video game.

just the popularity of an artist, a style, an aesthetic, a subject matter

Virtual items scare me because a few keystrokes from a developer could make a $1000 item suddenly as common as a grey item in diablo

it would take a lot of work to make, say an Olly Moss Tingle print that common

I probably wouldn't spend $1000 on a single piece of art, or a collectible, either, unless it was extremely meaningful to me for other reasons.

i mean what it really boils down to is not digital vs physical, or anything like that, what it boils down to is that $1000 is still a pretty big windfall for a lot of people and they would be hardpressed to turn it down

    Like

I have some fairly expensive decorative stuff

But even combined my tmnt display is like 400~500 bucks

and that was pushing it, and I know I could sell it on ebay at any time

Not that dota is gonna collapse in the next day or two or anything but its just

    It makes me very uneasy

Obviously its brad's choice and I'm not shaming him for it or anything, I just know for me my guts would be twisted up thinking about it

Yeah I get it and I totally wouldn't fault anyone for doing so. But the sentiment I'm talking about is that you'd be crazy not to sell it, and I think that's a questionable sentiment.

I only got one when I was like 13, and never really did typing class in school.

But I used to do 75-80 or so at best, I guess I don't practice enough anymore, as far as actual touch typing and not hunt and peck.

Also this new mechanical keyboard takes some getting used to, it sounds nice when I type fast though.

It depends of were talking correct wpm

I can do like 100 if I don't go back to correct typos, 80ish if I do

My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)

    ah

Just got it up to 63 by not correcting.

Also a lot of facebook people apparently use this site to test their wpm because somehow 63 is above 85% of them...

Also, personally (and this applies to both physical and digital items), the decorative (or even just expensive) items I have are all things that I think are worth what I paid. Like, once I buy it, I'm not very concerned about the material value of the item. Regardless of whether it goes up or down, I bought it in the first place because I'm happy with what I was going to be getting in return for the money I paid. It's pretty rare that I want to resell something afterwards, because I want that thing! That's why I bought it. Like I got a DotA 2 cosmetic for 5 dollars and it's worth 150 dollars now. Doesn't change the fact that I bought it because I want to use it, so I don't really feel any desire to sell it.

Of course, this is probably (definitely) because I came from a position of privilege where I didn't have to worry about needing to resell my stuff because of an emergency or anything like that. I totally understand why someone would feel really uncomfortable about having things that they feel might depreciate and/or can't be liquidated easily. I'm speaking strictly personally.

He did a blindbox of video game characters awhile back and he had one for Dhalsim that I was hoping I got

but I ended up getting 54/54 of his Tingle prints so I think I made out ok

has anyone who plays divinity original sin noticed if the recent patches helped the games' optimization?

i'm thinking of maybe getting it but didn't want to if all that stuff was still there.

    also what is the dlc

Warframe has instantly reminded me why I hate online co-op.

Very first multiplayer mission I get put in a group with two other people that were way higher level or spent $texas in the shop, either or. They both charge off at top speed as soon as we load in. I didn't get to kill a single enemy, do any of the objectives, or help in any way. I honestly don't even know what you do in that mission, by the time I caught up they were standing at the exit point waiting for me to get close enough to make the results screen pop up.

I did that all the time in warframe, the run through people thing

because you have to farm mats and it's tedious as hell to do a lot of the farming solo and i dont even know how to set it to solo anymore

my least favorite thing about hearthstone is that my favorite deck type, mill, isn't represented at all

with how the game is set up i don't think there'd be a way to do it really

    but i wish there was

    @Speed Racer

Let me tell you about Netrunner!

Also finished up Act 3 of KR0. That was really quite good. On like a whole different level than Act 1 and 2 for me.

Was trying to figure out why my copy of Doomsday Engine (a source port for Doom engine games) wasn't loading. Like, the program would "load" but nothing would show up on screen. Reinstalling and downloading different versions didn't help. Finally when I removed the Doomsday folder in my documents it started working, and eventually I narrowed it down a widow size configuration file.

Apparently it thought the window was supposed to be at x = -32000, y = -32000 position :P

Part of why I enjoy hearthstone may be linked to totally hating play types that prevent your opponent from doing things, and most of what they had in there that did that has been nerfed

Frost Mage is super popular right now, as is Control Warrior and other control decks. Those are pretty much about preventing your opponent from doing (meaningful) things.
