Sharable Calendar Question

Hey all,

I searched the forums and saw nothing regarding this, but can anyone please point me towards a sharable calendar program. Outlook is out a no go as the new version is $110 by itself, and I refuse to pay $300+ for Office. I am looking for ease of use, and something that is actually on the computer not a web only applet.

If this has been discussed else where, please point me to it.

Thanks

Sunbird can do what you want. Might take a little setting up, though.

Being online would be helpful to check your calendar from anywhere but the computer you originally entered it at.

I looked at Sunbird, as I am a long time Mozilla user, and have recently converted her, but everything I saw made it look like a HUGE pain to configure for this to work. Most FAQs I saw actually said it is impossible to make this updatable, and that it would basically be creating a new calendar every time something changed.

We use iCal, synced through a .Mac account.

I think there is a shim to use iCal with Google Calendar.

Of course, you'd need to be using a Mac, which I bet you aren't.

Can't you use any calendar app that supports WebDAV to sync with iCal, though? Doesn't have to be a Mac..

I use Lighting at work just for fun. I don't think either are all that hard to set up though. There's been a lot of work done in just the past few months, as a few big software houses have really been contributing to it. There's even an extension to let both Sunbird and Lightning interact with Google Calendar:

so your edits in Sunbird show up in Google, and vice versa. Its not at 1.0 stage yet, but its usable. Basically you just subscribe to the calendars you want and... well they show up.
