On Friday, September 15, Battlefield 3 (360) and Oxenfree (X1) (Replaced with Powerstar Golf in Japan and LocoCycle in India.) became available for free. Forza Motorsport 5 (X1) is the game that is available for all of September.
I'm thinking of finally buying my first console in years, and may go with a PS4 Pro. Seeing as this thread is a great compilation of sales and deals, I thought it'd be worth asking here for suggestions as to when I might pull that trigger? We have Black Friday coming, which Canadian stores have begun doing as well, plus Christmas/Boxing Day sales looming as well.
I'd be looking to snag Horizon Zero Dawn as well, if possible. No need for peripherals I can think of, so I'm more hoping for the best prices, rather than giant packages with all the bells and whistles.
Obviously I don't expect anyone to predict the future with unerring accuracy, more asking for opinions on what the big shops usually do during these sales periods. I've already scrolled back in the thread to see some of the posts talking about both periods, but thought it'd be worth just asking rather than making assumptions based on a cursory read of a couple of pages.

We probably won't hear about the Black Friday/holiday bundles until November. My wild guess is the non-pro PS4 will be under $200 (us) this year (with 1-2 digital games), and I bet we see a pro bundle around $350 (us) with Horizon Zero Dawn as the game.
Oh, yeah, to be clear I'm not expecting to hear actual BF deal info for weeks to come. Just a general sense from some folks here who have been tracking these kinds of things for years now.

Perhaps it's more a question of "how do people feel the BF deals compared to any that showed up around Christmas"? It'd remain a gamble, but some context on previous patterns could help as well.
Though I suspect I'll probably just jump in at BF and accept that any better deals around Boxing Day are the price I pay to pick this stuff up a month earlier.

Black Friday deals last year were pretty good, and it seemed like the Christmas deals either matched or got close in mid/late December. Its safe to assume the Black Friday deal will be better, unless retail sales are down as we get closer to Christmas. I did a quick check, and last years bundles were revealed at the end of October, but the final BF prices didn't get announced until closer to the sales.
(This is all from US, casual retail observations. I have no idea how things play out in Canada)
Edit 2: I wish we had Boxing Day sales in the US like Canada/the UK
Stores haven't been shy about coming up with deals on PS4 systems in the past and the Pro's sales pace is pretty "meh," so chances of Pro deals are pretty good this BF. Especially with the Xbox One X showing up.

I'd be looking to snag Horizon Zero Dawn as well, if possible. No need for peripherals I can think of, so I'm more hoping for the best prices, rather than giant packages with all the bells and whistles.
Obviously I don't expect anyone to predict the future with unerring accuracy, more asking for opinions on what the big shops usually do during these sales periods. I've already scrolled back in the thread to see some of the posts talking about both periods, but thought it'd be worth just asking rather than making assumptions based on a cursory read of a couple of pages.
We probably won't hear about the Black Friday/holiday bundles until November. My wild guess is the non-pro PS4 will be under $200 (us) this year (with 1-2 digital games), and I bet we see a pro bundle around $350 (us) with Horizon Zero Dawn as the game.

Perhaps it's more a question of "how do people feel the BF deals compared to any that showed up around Christmas"? It'd remain a gamble, but some context on previous patterns could help as well.
Though I suspect I'll probably just jump in at BF and accept that any better deals around Boxing Day are the price I pay to pick this stuff up a month earlier.
(This is all from US, casual retail observations. I have no idea how things play out in Canada)
