can I/should I shrink my t-shirt?

I bought a shirt online, it's a bit too large (silly me, I'm used to buying Large shirts, when I know I should wear medium, but for some reason Threadless shirts work out to be the right size in Large, but not most other shirts... and I've been buying lots of Threadless recently. Maybe they shrink). But this one is large and is large on me, of course.

It's 100% cotton, bright red, and has writing on it. Can I shrink it without making it a worse shirt (wrinkly, color loss, whatever), and if so, how? Or should I just live with a big ass shirt?

:( I'm so stupid. Shoulda just returned it. But returning online is a hassle and the tags are gone now. Oh well.

Most shirts shrink pretty well now adays, and actually companies admit to cotton shrinking and make it so that shirts naturally shrink when you wash them.

Umm, 100% cotton shrinks best when washed in warm water, then dried on tumble dry warm.

    Sorry I don't have more.

I shrink all my threadless shirts.

I purchase larges, and then, when they arrive, I toss them in the laundry. They are too big to wear right away but they shrink a good amount when washed normally. Haven't noticed any negative side effects to this at all.

Yeah, I noticed my threadless shirts shrunk automatically with normal wash. This (bright red baseball shirt with player name and number, T-shirt made by Majestic), however, has been washed once normally, and has not shrunk... what do I need to do to shrink it?

The cotton may be pre-shrunk. Which means that obviously it won't shrink up much more then it already has.

have it wash with hot water and dry at a higher heat

oh, and I hang dry my threadless shirts so that they don't shrink any more...

This won't crack the letters and whatnot? And should I just put it by itself so it doesn't bleed?

Blech, why didnt I just return it when I got it? Because I'm lazy. I hate my life.

I love threadless. Now that that's out of the way...
I shrink all my threadless shirts. I wash them in cold wash, then tumble dry them on high.
I don't know if this matters, but I wash and dry my shirts inside out.
The collars tend to be a little wrinkly after the tumble dry, but I haven't had any problems with damages to the print. Which one did you get anyway? I've noticed that SOME of my threadless tend to shrink better than others.
