Non Pinny Arcade Gaming Pins collecting and trading

Pins. What was considered a friendly collecting and trading hobby amongst like minded Penny Arcade fans a little over a year ago, has now consumed your life as you frantically check the forums every hour for an announcement that will get you that next 'hit'... And when news becomes few and far between, you realise that Pinny Arcade alone just wont cut it anymore...

So with the new Blizzard pins announced at SDCC, i figured thered be more than just me interested in collecting and trading. Thought it would be a good idea to have a thread for any gaming related pins or collections that we can work together to collect and trade. Regular PA rules don't apply, i wouldn't expect people to trade PA for non pa pins, up to you in private to sort that out. So for the moment, i know of:

Blizzard pins, Available after Blizzcon with 2 Jim Raynor (normal and gold plated) exclusive to SDCC that im really keen to get

Club Nintendo pins: honestly, these have been going on for years so i don't intend to have any substantial collection but id be really interested in any Legend of Zelda pins anybody knows about

So, I'm a big Blizzard fan, but for some reason their SDCC pins just don't look that attractive to me. I think the Leeroy and Hearthstone pins look much better.

The feedback I provided was that they are too.. "busy". They need to simplify the designs, so the details stand out more. They seemed to agree with that, so Hopefully future designs are cleaner.

Are there any decent pictures of the Blizzard pins? The "gold" variants seem to look the best from the crappy pictures I've found so far, mainly because they do seem less "busy" as @Frostbyte‌ put it.

I honestly don't like the gold variants as much, because its way harder to tell what the characters are unless you get really close to the pins. The color ones you can at least see the difference easily from one pin to the next.

Agree with the gold ones being harder to make out. I do like the larger sizes of the pins though.

There are a good number of non-PA pins that I've picked up. The Halo set from SDCC last year, my Kojima/Foxhound pins, a few Hard Rock pins that struck a cord with me, the Mega Man 25th anniversary pin, and the Bethesda set from cons last year all grace my pin boards.

That Ugly Doll DC set that I mentioned in the other thread will also be joining my collection soon.

Well it just happened this year a few weeks ago. (for Melbourne that is - Brisbane and Sydney are coming up)

I think this was the 3rd year its been run?

I went in the first year (which was chaos) and went all fanboi with Stan Lee.. Its not SDCC or NYCC but its the best we can muster up so far.

Yeah they've been running them all year, not sure when they started though. In fact, one of the very best members of the PAX team moved to Australia specifically to work on that series of cons.

Hmm, guess they just sort of slipped past me....I do know of Supanova, which is geared more towards Anime/Manga, went a few times years ago

But......i already caught them all when they were cards.....dont make me do this again!

Also, i just received from ebay the two exclusive Blizzard pins from SDCC, normal and gold Jim Raynor. They are just slightly bigger and a little heavier than an average pinny pin. Do agree that the art is a little busy, needs less detail and line work to stand out a bit more. Wouldn't mind collecting atleast the first set, only 9 pins, probably wont go for gold. Next available at blizzcon.

That was an AMC theater stubs giveaway on opening weekend. There were 5 common pins, and that crest was a rare 1/100 drop. Needless to say I didn't get it when I went lol

Not to mention that the emblem pins have a clearly different shape that theater employees could snipe for themselves. I have no interest in the character bottons, but the Starlord emblem is awesome.

I forced all my friends into going to see that movie. Then had the wife go up and ask for the pins. The guy gave her 15 pins. Didn't get the special crest...but if anyone needs the characters let me know

So in the "off season", I do a little bit of the Disney pin trading. I recently came across this 10 pin mystery set which was released at Disneyland a few years back. Needless to say, I picked up all 10 pins on eBay, and even was lucky enough to find one of the original boxes in near perfect condition!

Not only was the Disney/Penny Arcade combo amazing, but the fact that the pins and packaging are all designed to look like Atari 2600 games, made them a must buy. Check them out

So, it seems that Valve released a 15 pin series for The International 4 this year. At PAX Prime, WeLoveFine were selling those pins at their booth on the sixth floor of the expo hall. I'm a pretty big Dota fan, so I totally picked up as many as I could. It seems as though I have lost one, and I never did get the super rare Flying Donkey Courier.

I'm curious if anyone here is also collecting and willing to trade for the Dota 2 pins?

I'm looking for the Pugna (which I had, but can't find after returning from Seattle) and Flying Donkey Courier
I have 2 Nature's Prophet, 2 Sand King, 1 Crystal Maiden and 1 Bristleback up for trade.

I could also be interested in trading for the Shopkeeper and Roshan pins, which I believe weren't sold at PAX Prime this year.

None that I saw, just the two Pinny Arcade ones. There were however that one miniature game...Warmachine? I think? They looked pretty sweet and were gigantic.

I'm presuming you mean the Privateer Press pins. I don't own any, but every picture I've seen of folks wearing them make them look huge.

I saw a few of these pins in the wild, and they are huge. They're easily double the height of an average Pinny Arcade pin.
