Guys, I think we're all pretty cautiously optimistic about the new Star Wars films due out soon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh0Vu1hm2G8

While we wait to find out that Zod's severed head is attached to the radar dish of the Millennium Falcon, let's talk about what our favorite Star Wars ships are!

Mine is the beautifully designed work of art that is the A-Wing.

This is not a request for you to talk about if your favorite ship could beat up someone else's favorite ship, because it's not about comparing made up numbers! This question is purely about aesthetics.

The real question is, can you draw 21 darth vaders?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fURUOJIZmGo

Also my favorite ship recently has been the tie phantom, for being so good at xwing minis >.>

I've always had a soft spot for a victory class star destroyer

The Phantom is totally crazy-awesome in the X-Wing minis game. I'm still learning how to fly Echo though, while I'm a total ace with A-Wings already.

The ship looked amazing in game but it seems next to impossible to find good screenshots or video of it and hell if I'm reinstalling TOR just to do it myself.

So I have been mostly avoiding all the preview clips of the new rebels show coming out, and I know it's aimed at kids.

But a slingshot? Really? The empire has already fallen so low as a kid with a slingshot is able to make fools of them?

    Strike 1 Disney?

    A-Wing.

    Nice, smooth lines. Classy.

I was going through some old work of mine from 13-14 years ago and found this drawing of Luke as an older Jedi master:

Will be interesting to see how close turn of the millennium Darren came to his look in Episode VII.

pretty sure I love all the classic imperial ship designs
    acfleet-ties.jpg
all of the main TIE designs are fantastic, I think the defender is a bit goofy though and vastly prefer the phantom

the imperial shuttle is badass and elegant

star destroyers are great, the super star destroyer was like the coolest looking thing even though it went down like a chump

it's hard to try and go back and choose favorites because of how early on star wars was a part of my life and how much I loved it as a kid

I'm a big fan of TIE/Interceptors, but I have to give the B-wing my vote for favorite fighter design.
Somehow, it manages to look both ungainly and graceful at the same time.

And here's an image of three of them flying away from a giant explosion. You can't tell, but I'm 95% certain that none of the pilots are looking behind them either, just like true badasses.
    BWingsKillISD2-ST.jpg
Such a shame all but a few seconds of b-wing was cut from RotJ due to technical issues. Yet somehow, that's the one thing Lucas didn't change in his redone versions.
Add in a 10 minute long musical number that adds nothing to Jabba's Lair? Sure, let's crank up some cheesy looking CGI fuzzball to sing.
Add more B-wing? Nah, no time to do that, we're too busy extending the ewok victory celebration.

Some people say if you look at the side profile and squint your eyes just right, it looks like a lower case b.
In the EU, I've read that it stands for Blade-wing, because the main wing looks kind of like a sword or knife.

My personal theory is that someone on the design team misheard "t-wing", and decided that in the same way the X-wing was a faster space superiority fighter compared to the Y-wing being a slower heavier bomber, the A-wing would be the faster superiority fighter to the B-wing being a bomber. They wrote B-wing somewhere important and nobody thought to correct it as filming progressed since it would never actually be named in the movie.

Because is was the second new starfighter design in ROTJ and the first one (the a-fighter) actually looked like a capital A

It is game where you could play games of Dejarik while blowing up Dagobah with the Death Star.

It was so fucking rad even if the rules were dense as hell.

The Star Wars Dance game is one of those things that is just so unbelievably dumb that it loops around to awesome.

They've just fully embraced the silliness of it, and I think that's great.

It does kind of make you wonder how different the movies would have been if they had solved their problems with dance offs instead of murder.
