Also, I thought that the Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell universes were the same (they stated that certain events in SC3 were referenced in GR2) but that Rainbow was seperate.
Guess that's getting retconned.
I actually enjoy them sometimes, depends on the property they're based on.
And I miss I Love Bees, is it healthy that I listen to it in completion semi-regularly?

The World:
Seems to be set @ 2027, given mention of the recent 2026 Winter Olympics and the upcoming 2028 Olympics. There seems to be some sort of global war taking place, to the point where armor battles are taking place in (a destroyed?) Washington D.C. Incendiary raids taking place in London and elsewhere. OPEC has collapsed, leaving an energy combine in its' place. Displaced persons camps are springing up all over the place, from the Middle-East to Europe. The U.K, France, and Spain are fighting some (currently unknown) opposing force, suffering casualties measured in the thousands per day and possibly losing Paris. Refugees are fleeing to China. There is mention of a European Federation.
The U.S. of mutherfuckin' A:
NYC has issues with collapsed tunnels and spontaneous riots. Immigrants are streaming into Mexico and Canada. The capital has been moved to Boston where Sen. Kennedy is causing some upset by appropriating federal funding for local works. Vets are a little peeved over the big tank battle in Arlington National Cemetary. NYSE has moved to Chicago and the US$ is tanking. the U.S. is doing some ass-whoopin' on the Gulf coast, but it doesn't mention which Gulf coast.

There's references to Splinter Cell and GRAW in the audio clips. CBUG (Creepy Beat-Up Guy) was born in 1991, was awarded a medal for the successful retreat in the defense of Atlanta (only 12% casualties!). Recommended promotion to O-4 (Major). His MOS (Army specialty) corresponds to Counter-Intelligence Specialist. Medical stuff on the right talks about psychiatric history involving what amounts to (in my opinion) severe PTSD, to the point of catatonia, obsesses over past ops, cannot distinguish past from present. He has a fairly severe injury in the right shoulder/arm that may leave him permenantly disabled. The right-hand bar seems to indicated that he is a captive of some sort. He also has a severe negative (almost Pavlovian) response to Slavic languages. He speaks English, French, Spanish, and Russian. Mentions something about a cross-comm hard drive with partial damage. Served in U.S. operations in Eritrea in Africa.
