Can I [LAN] without internet?

ZeitgeistHeistZeitgeistHeist Registered User regular
So I have a Windows 8 laptop, and my friend has Windows 7. We won't have internet this weekend, but we want to link up and play Divinity together. I think it should be possible to do that with an ethernet cable, or maybe through HomeGroup, although I don't know the steps to make it happen. Has anyone done this successfully before?

Looks like it's possible with the steam version.

LAN games were the only game that we ever played. While you might be able to jury rig something with a crossover Ethernet cable, just being connected to the same router should do it for you.

EDIT: One person hosts the game, while the other person clicks Join on the main menu, then clicks the LAN tab to find local games on the same router.
