What I think is hilarious is that Command & Conquer Generals was literally just a reskin of Dune with the exact same paper-rock-scissors relationships between units and factions and even some of the same powers. Americans = Atreides, China = Harkonnen, Mooslins = Ordos.

I just watched the S2 premiere of venture bros, I can't believe they ended S1 like that and it was almost 2 years before they told people hank and dean are clones. Too troll. Do they ever say how long they've been "16"? The flashback implies it's been quite a while.

Until you see all the episodes, you are an unclean.
Edit: What I'm trying to say here is to keeping watching and find out.
I think the politics comes through rather strongly in how Leto chooses to pursue that goal, and the remarks he (i.e., FH) makes to the reader in the course of doing so - one can leave aside the point that the choice of crisis itself is also reflective of 1960s anxieties, given that the threat of total human extinction isn't really one which is evident in the universe's own fictional history, much less an extinction event which is exclusively local
I mean, in story there are numerous instances of grandiose manipulation by assorted actors, but the hero's way - the self-sacrificing way encompassing triumph and tragedy alike - is for the hero to climb to the top of the social pyramid and then stay there via action taking on insights that are exclusively available to those of sufficient heroic worth, in the most cloying only-hard-men-can-make-hard-choices fashion. FH said that Dune is about the pitfalls of heroes but this falls flat unless it is held that the Golden Path was never really worth the sacrifices or even tenable, and that's not suggested in any part of Dune as written by FH. So Paul and Leto kill millions of people? Well, so what? This is like giving one's pet Mary Sue the flaw of being clumsy (but only when it's cute). There's no human failure in having your pet protagonist act out a political reality that (regrettably, of course) forces them to wage genocide for the Greater Good.

That moment when you realize you didn't carry the 1 and accidentally gave the bartender a Shitty tip.
Then you get circumcised and have an abortion next to the best fast food burger chain.

I don't think they give a specific age and I don't think they ever will. Time in the Venture Bros. has had to become increasingly abstract and elastic because not all that much time has passed in the world of the story while ten-plus years have passed in the real world (but VB characters are still making pop culture jokes about Game of Thrones and other recent stuff, so it's not like the show is set specifically in circa 2004 either).
Like for Dr. Venture to have been alive and having Johnny Quest adventures at the end of the Jet Age, he'd have to be pushing sixty by this point.
realtalk I am a still little salty about that news story broar posted in the last thread there
a 16 year old who gets taken advantage of by a 24 year old and a 32 year old don't "got game"
that's a minor getting sexually taken advantage of by two adults who should fucking know better
who are teachers at their school, no less, who are in positions of authority over minor students
yes, i know we all get raised being taught the gatekeeper model of sexuality is normal and shit but
acting as if agency is always in the hands of the male to seduce implies that women exist to be seduced
as opposed to putting the blame squarely where it ought to lie
which is on two irresponsible, immature adults who abused their positions of authority and took advantage of a minor because of their own insecurities and problems
and that is exactly how people would see it if the genders were reversed, let's all be honest here
if you are 24 god damn years old no amount of anything should cause you to be choosing to have sex with a 16 year old except your own fucking bad judgment and personal problems
i mean jesus have you tried even having a conversation with a 16 year old lately?
yeah, no
i really, really want people to not have that initial "Nice." reaction to this kind of shit like the victim ever has any kind of power in how they get taken advantage of here
gets me fired up in a bad way for kind of personal reasons

god the Game of Thrones joke in the season opener for season 5 was super awkward in this regard
because it sorta underlined how much time had passed since the last season
like the entire series of Game of Thrones had appeared on the scene and had three seasons in the break between seasons 4 and 5 of Venture Brothers

I miss 2004. Not that I want to be 15 again, that was fucking awful, but I feel like the "new normal" of our economic situation and over a decade of war have really taken a toll on the american psyche.

For those, you just take the url and add an s or l to the end, respectively.

(just passed out at work for 35 mins)
if Dune is a product of the 60s, Foundation is very much a product of the 40s
I'm not sure I ever finished the foundation series. I think it got too weird for me to care. That definitely happened with Dume as well
oh yes, the others were written in the 1980s (wiki sez) and definitely have a different flavour
