What I expected? That we get to fight with our non-normalized stats. The ones we worked for. As it was advertised.
Dealing with 10x higher damage values than we do now. Within this greater granularity, depending on if I've upgraded my weapons and armor, the differences can be accounted for, like I deal 123 damage per shot, rather than 115 before the last upgrade. Currently it's mostly a placebo effect, and I feel like there's some scaling bullshit going on - some lower levels seem to outdamage me with crap gear, which is non-sensical.
Overall, it's just rebranded Crucible Control, with an abysmal selection of rewards, the best of which are pure RNG end-of-the-round drops.
Weapons don't have "stats," though. I think he's referring to Int/Disc/Str.

Iron Banner is many things, a sham first and foremost, but the mode where-in our accomplishments matter, it is not!
Mind explaining how this works? I'm about to do it myself.
WOW PVP was bad before Resilience. Rose tinted nostalgia might be making people remember otherwise, but level 60 was all about instant death facerolling a huge number of battles. A Naxx geared warrior could kill a clothie by accident with whirlwind, though admittedly mages, warlocks, and priests had their own defenses with max range near instant kills, permanent fears, and huge duration mind control respectively, but it was still dumb.
Hey, getting a player to follow you into the water (even in AB), only to be mind controlled/feared until they drowned was hardly dumb, it was thoroughly entertaining.
How people did NOT see that coming or what I was trying to do amazes me even now. :P
Yeah, but I was summoned and it seems non passives are the same. I have the feelings stats are gonna be the same too. Exotics is exotics yo, unless bungie really hates us and put exotics in our exotics that we gotta *sift through.
Oh wait I have wild sunbreakers if anyone wants to go pare those too.

Enter the Nightfall, drive to the entrance area with the Fallen Captain and all that. Wave. Keep driving right the fuck on. Go somewhere else that is instanced, I used Campus 9 which is through the next area and on the right. If you stopped at the next big open area and went to the area behind the level 20 Praetorians that would work to. Kill level 28 shit in these zones. Nightfall burn will be in effect and kills of those 28's will count. You'll have to find more areas or orbit and repeat to get to 200.
The trick is that any darkness zone is level 28 in the Nightfall and kills in there "count" for the bounty.
The small but significant advantage conferred by levels/defense/attack strike a balance between not driving people away and providing an unbalanced playing field. It's super obvious to me that someone with two levels worth of gear above me is way, way harder to put down than someone one level either side.
A playing field too unbalanced means level 30s strictly dominate and level 24-27 need not apply and you end up with a another homogenised experience. If everyone is super then no one will be and all that.
Something that would be interesting but impractical would be an uneven playing field in player power vs team size. You might have three level 30 characters against 9 lower levels - and with the power disparity being around or a bit less than heavy vs primary weapons.
This is absolutely not what Bungie advertised for Iron Banner. It isn't even what Iron Banner was in beta. Bungie advertised that "level advantages are enabled", but didn't give details. They also said that attack and defense matter, which they do. I will agree that Bungie should have gone into more detail before the event started, so people knew what to expect.
Personally, I've found that Iron Banner has tougher opponents than normal crucible. The games have been closer (aside from disconnects). I think it's a bit silly to call it a sham.
On a different note, has anyone seen the legendary ship drop in Iron Banner?
I haven't seen any legendary drops from IB at all, and I've been doing nothing but IB since it started.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
Afraid they don't. Weekly strikes only counted as 1 each for me.
In beta, I saw a few people get it.
In retail, I've gotten timur's lash twice.
I haven't played much at rank 3, some people say a lot of the rewards might require you to be 3 before they'll drop?
Totally not a stupid thing to say. Nope, not at all.
I am really tired of the circular Iron Banner talk
I need to try again at Xyor for the thorn. I couldn't even spawn him last attempt.
Badly without the upgrades. It's huge charge time means two things: 1) you gotta pre-charge the hell out of it 2) you need the full-auto upgrade to kill people.
It does vaporize people once you get the upgrades in one-shot/burst though. But it might be easier using a quicker charging gun in PvP.
It's bananas in PvE though.

Already got the exotic bounties for the Thron and the invective and now I have the one for the Bad Juju as well!
Sure. It does great damage and plenty of missions give you great vantage points to safely snipe.

I meant I unlocked full auto haha. Thanks for the heads up though. I have some titan-specific strats I want to test out.
Because I fucking hated the queens wrath but IB is great!
Is this just a classic PvP vs PvE discussion?

I honestly can't tell a difference between IB and regular Crucible, except when I win I get different rep.

Pocket Infinity faaaaaaaaaahsho.
The best part is hassle-free swapping in combat. Thanks to the surprisingly quick refresh, there are nearly always six shots ready to go, without the need to hoard ammo or reload before stowing it again.
So far my only complaint is it seems very susceptible to flinching under fire, or perhaps even a very light breeze.
