virtual cotton candy dancing vs non-virtual (analogue? analog?)

so here's my problem. you don't need me to tell you that cotton candy dancing is basically in right now. the street smarts of pop up artisanal cotton candy vending meets the rhythm and flow of whatever music gets your feet on the floor; it's a pretty sweet combination

i wanted to get into the scene but i don't have a lot of doseph right now so i've been experimenting with virtual spinning machines (VSMs) that i acquired...shall we say creatively ; ), and I think I'm making some really good progress, but all of these old school/cool school "purists" keep making fun of me every time i bring my lenovo thinkpad to a candy meet. i'm doing all the moves, and i'm programming all the motions, i'm every bit as creative as they are, but sometimes it feels like they're just not going to accept me until i actually spin real physical cotton candy. as if anyone has the money for that these days.

sorry for the rant, but i figure if anyone would appreciate the hardships an innovative technophile has to endure, it'd be you chaps. have you ever run into frustrating roadblocks while trying to bring digital goodness to outdated hobbies and practices?

We got a cotton candy maker as a wedding gift. We've been married 9 years and never used it.

i know that a lot of people don't have problems with sampling stuff people already made and incorporating it into your routine. it's all sort of a slippery slope once you start saying "oh well you bought that cotton candy from the store. oh well you bought the prepackaged cotton candy mix. oh, you didn't refine the sugars yourself? ha ha ha what you didn't even raise your own silk candy spiders?"

but it just makes me uncomfortable

Did you accidentally get some of that lsd laced cotton candy that's been going around at your latest meet? You need to get on the phone with your commissioner stat and get that stamped out, those guys are making everyone else look bad.

you're friggin telling me dude! I'm talking to Yevgeny and he's just rolling his eyes right out of his spaced out gourd

"lsd is part of the scene man, we were doing it before you showed up, we're gonna do it when you leave. both specifically and in the grand scheme of things"

i know i'm not really a part of the group but that doesn't mean i can't try and make it better

Well here's a question for you Tarranon: when do you ever want to have cotton candy and NOT be tripping at the same time?

Do you see what I mean?

You gotta watch out for that red rope liquorice as well. There's some bad stuff going around.

i know what you mean, but to me the performance has always been the rush; the end product, the candy, it's almost tangential to the thrill of dazzling a crowd with moves both spatial and virtual

these "candy crushers", they get caught up in the lifestyle and burn out. i'm not here to be popular, or get famous, or make a lot of friends on vine. I want to perform, and play at bigger and bigger boardwalks

Sorry bro, but I just don't think your all-software solution is going to capture the analog warmth and detail of physical cotton candy

Call me an old-fashioned purist but the results speak for themselves
