I can't place this smell or flavor but it's great.
I think it's chocolate? Yes, it has to be chocolate.

This is one of the best chocolate beers I've had. It tastes like a really good wee heavy with a hint of a Chocolate undertone. Too many beers overdo the chocolate.
I just discovered that there is a deli like, two blocks from my house that makes really above average sandwiches and has a wall with over 90 beers on tap, and fridges with a couple dozen more.
And I leave the country in three weeks.

Yeah I don't know how they do it - Perry's Revenge isn't a chocolate beer but it definitely tastes of chocolate. Like I said on that paper, I think it's the best beer you can get in Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Now I'm drinking a Goose Island 312 Pale Ale. It was 4 bucks for a sixer
Fun Fact: It got the name because one of the owners of Cottrell is a serious diver and found the wreck of the USS Revenge off the coast of Block Island.

Drinking a ten fidy(Oskar blues), tank 7(boulevard brew), and a double jack(Firestone-walker) while checking the gravity of my hoppy belgian house beer and watching the walking dead. Happy times :-)
Had to swap out the airlock with a blow-off tube, this ale foams like a volcano. Also making it a nightmare because the dog was getting at some of the residue on the outside of the fermenter.
Haven't had this many unfortunate things happen while brewing.
Imagine what "cheese' could exist if someone tried to copy Velveeta.
I drank a bottle of Allagash Black a week or so ago during our G&T Steam thread game night. It was the first time since high school that I woke up with a raging hangover but it was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it if people like dark beer. http://www.allagash.com/beer/year-round/black

Just put in an order with my local bottle shop for four cartons (24x) of Duvel for my christmas celebrations.
For those of you up in the pacific Northwest area, are there any breweries that you would recommend for a visit? A mate and I are going to be over that way from Australia around late December/January and I wondered if there's good beer places to check out, or any beers specifically we should try?

That is accurate.
I will free flow locations and breweries off the top of my head in Portland alone to give you an idea:
Deschutes. Upright. Cascade. The Commons. Lompoc. Gigantic. Hopworks. APEX. Bailey's. Laurelwood. Lucky Lab. Green Dragon. Widmer. StormBreaker. Ecliptic. Horse Brass. N.W.I.P.A. Migration. Saraveza. Breakside. Alameda. Hair of the Dog. Bridgeport.
So multiple that by like three or so and you're in the ballpark.
I would suggest Deschutes (the big boys), Cascade (world class unique sours), and Breakside (best all around) as brewery options. APEX and Bailey's as your taprooms.

for being a tiny city Harrisonburg has a hella craft brew scene, because it's along 81 and in the Valley, so a ton of product moves through here anyways
