    Try playing Monster Hunter.

You will never see your character's face or any other features.

I just started playing last night, and I am only about an hour into it, and the 'giant ugly helmet' problem is already painfully obvious. I found a plate helmet and put it on Cassandra. I can't imagine why, but it's easily twice the size it should be. It's a wonder how she can even stay upright with that enormous mass of metal on top. It's like I accidentally activated 'big head mode' or something.

Good thing Qunari's don't get helmets. Just paint.

yes, bioware nailed the space-helmet, but their fantasy helmets leave a lot to be desired, thank god you can "Hide helmet". Can't have the Herald of Andraste looking silly w/ helmet hair.

    Champion of Kirkwall
    Hero of Fereldon

    All plagued by bad-hat syndrome.

At least the Warrior type helmets look pretty good.

    I went Rogue, though.

Yeah this comic is so accurate. At least the first helmet they give you looks like complete ass. It doesn't help that the Hide Helmet option is hidden away in a weird menu - like, I think it was Gameplay or Interface? I don't remember. But when you have "Display" - shouldn't it go under that?

(also I can't remap buttons to my other mouse buttons, which is annoying me)

Not true. And for the times when it is true, what's covering them up is too awesome to make you care.

    Haha that's so true? :D

I create hideously ugly characters, typically for my own amusement at how everybody throws themselves at my main character, so it's the same problem for me but in a different way. Thank goodness for the ability to hide the helmet so I can laugh at my own horrible mug.

Soul Sacrifice had a different kinda problem - you had a pretty in depth character creation system, and alternate costumes was one of the big unlock incentives, they were pretty hard to get with some big time sink goals involved, so how your character looks was a big deal to a long term player... and if you maxed out as either level 100 evil or hero, then it forced you into a preset demonic or angelic model with no customization beyond colour scheme. You could always just avoid going too far evil or heroic, but c'mooon. :I

    Oh brilliant

I always hide helmets in Dragon Age. They really need to work on those helmets.

I'll take a potato chip and eat it!

Fixed in Soul Sacrifice Delta. Appearance is now also a function of your Hand Sigil, so if you want to go full angel/demon, you can just slot in the appropriate Hand Sigil (unlocked at 99 Light/Dark). You can get the full customization of your character (with a LOT more options) and just use a "normal" appearance by slotting in a different Hand Sigil (which changes the look of your sorcerer arm).

Or rather, what they are not covering up. If you know what I mean.

At least he doesn't have pointy eyebrows poking through the helmet. ;)
