edit: just tested this out. holy crap. on tourmaline you can fire for just about forever and quickly, heat jumps 14% with each shot. range is 1051m on the ERPPC. it would be nuts with the cooldown and range mods

I agree. Its fun in the right situation, but being put in a spot where its effective is tricky. The constant 10 point shot only works for so long, and to use the machine guns, you have to expose yourself and generally get cut to pieces by whatever your trying to finish off, unless its distracted by a friendly.

Let's be honest: I don't use the warhorns I already own. Nor do I use all the cockpit thingamabobbers.
Also, to double back on the rainbow thing: I now own a new blue, a new brown, two more new reds, three more new greens, and five new shades of gray. (The pursuit of a lame "Fifty Shades" joke continues!)

For maximum LP earnings, you'd go with the longest contract you can stomach, run four (P) variant mechs, and equip each with the appropriate hanging medallion (assuming all this stuff works as described).
As a reminder, here are the (P) variants, and their new Quirk leanings:
(20t) LCT-1V: ERLL build
(55t) SHD-2H: AC5 build (though the quirks are pretty minor)
(55t) GRF-1N: SRM6 build (though the quirks are pretty minor)
(55t) WVR-6R: AC5 build (+Missiles)
(65t) TDR-5S: LL/ML boat (+Missiles)
(85t) BLR-1G: ML boat (+Missiles)
I don't think I have even half of these kitted out according to their quirks.
[Edit] On the line of thinking, has anyone tried a WVR-6R with AC/5's, like this: WVR-6R: 2xAC/5(4t), 2xLRM-5(1t), ML, XL275, 1xJJ. With Fast Fire and the Quirks, that's a pair of AC/5 rounds slightly faster than every second, which sounds crazy. I currently use my 6R with a Gauss build, so I don't have a good feel for if the AC's would be any good.
... I still have like 3 hanging medallions i can select from the phoenix package. I really dont like hanging items.

I have but I do 2xAC/5, 1xML, 1xSRM6. I just like the more stock feel. It's capable of racking up good numbers but the same drawbacks as any IS medium with an XL apply, and smart people will target your right arm the same way they would a YLW's.
I can't believe that:
a. MWO is fun, more so than it has been in the past
b. Clan mechs feel different
c. Other mechs are (relatively) balanced against them
d. That CW is actually coming out and might be fun

The Oosik Irregulars are going to sign on for a long-ish stint with the FRR. I'm not going to commit us to a permanent contract until we see what the implications of that look like, and what kind of contingencies are in place to change factions later.
The Iron Oosiks are going to sign on to Clan Ghost Bear, with the same thinking.
This can change if there is consensus among the Oosiks, of course.
May we turn their mechs to slag, and salt the soil of their homeworld so they die a slow and miserable death befitting of a traitor!

Sorry I was grumpy, I'm just really tired of matches that are lost in the first two minutes because people are timid and/or don't act with intentionality.
It was actually my main motivator to buy the panther pack. I could get the blue and orange colors in the davion pack (and sure a light mech in my stable that's not the locust).
