So, I've made one thread here and one in G&T about my problems with Rome Total War. Basically, the game will install and run fine for a short while, then when I try to launch it again it will freeze at the Activision/Copyright screen. I have done everything I can think of (and then some) to try and get it to work, with no luck. However, one time, when I was reinstalling it, it failed to install the .exe file, which I found really strange. Anyways, it led to a new question...
Is it possible that something is wrong with the disks themselves? I heavily modded Rome when I had it (both by myself and by downloading mods), but I just don't understand how that could change the disks. Anyways, Rome is only 20 bucks now (30 with the expansion), which I would gladly pay to play again. However, while I know somewhat about computers and such, I just can't possibly see how the disks themselves could be corrupted in some way. So tell me, is there?
Regardless, a reformat and OS fresh install should fix the problem, but I doubt that's what you want to hear (and you've probably already figured that out already).
No other abnormal behavior, it runs Medieval Total War II perfectly. Haha yeah I was starting to think that might be the case. Strangest thing ever, but I guess if I want to play it that bad, then it needs to be done. Thanks a lot.
Thats how I have been doing it. When I said I would delete the Activision file, that is because after uninstalling, especially when stuff has been modded, there were extra files left over.

Do you delete the game directory when you uninstall? Just to be sure that there are not remnants of your prior installation/mods hanging about.
