Those gold and silver Mario amiibos are giving me flashbacks to driving around to like 10 Burger Kings with my mom getting all the gold pokemon cards when the first pokemon movie hit theaters.
Oh man, I still have one of those. The cards are really dumb, but that Pokeball display case...

Still can't log into Club Nintendo. Guess I'm just going to have to give it a shot at 2AM or something.
All I wanted was a neat mega man and maybe toon link figure to have on my desk
But people are monsters
At the very least, no Amiibo is going to stop being produced, so it's a matter of time. But yeah, scalpers are awful people.
Haven't they already stopped producing a bunch?
I specifically asked a Nintendo rep I know about it and they said that the rumours were exactly that and nothing more. Time will tell whether that's true or not, but I'm going to believe him at this point.
I wouldn't be surprised if characters who have gone out of production pop up again as variants for different games, like how a bunch of the mario party amiibos are characters already covered by smash
that lets you sell the same character potentially twice to the same person, and all!
nintendo makes some baffling business decisions but the speed at which they are churning out amiibos suggests they intend to capitalize on the opportunity. And I also doubt the ones that have stopped being produced will never see a second run, because there's clearly a market for them and nobody gains by making them rare but scalpers and resellers.

Like, this all started because a Canadian retailer tweeted that Villager, Marth and Wii Fit Trainer were sold out forever, and Nintendo said that there were certain Amiibos that would likely only have one run, which is A) Not definite and Something they could easily have changed their minds on.

The cruel twist of fate is that he gives me a Villager that isn't the default.
I believe in the theory whoever it was around here had where Nintendo is super limiting these amiibo so they can go back and make ones with simple poses that don't need butter bricks and whatnot.

Did Toys R Us and Target hide their Lucario and Rosalina Amiibo entries on their websites or something? A simple search of each wesbite doesn't find either.

I think they've completely sold out and have just removed the listings for them
Boy, I'm getting a wee bit tired of Nintendo's proprietary bullshit.
Redeemed some Nintendo club points for the original Paper Mario and Mario 64. Awesome! Except apparently you can only download and use them by going through the Wii emulator, which requires an actual Wii Remote and not a pad or Pro controller. All right, fine. Bought a wii remote and a nunchuck to go with it. Downloaded the games. Hooray!
Aaaaaaand I can't actually play them without something called a 'classic controller?' And neither the Wii Remote/ Nunchuck combo nor the pro controller will suffice?
They really want to punish people who skipped out on the Wii, don't they

The External HDD is for all the WiiU digital stuff, of which there is a substantial amount.

Yes, I too would like one of those.
Also a GC adapter.
Let me tell you about Nintendo.
I would be fine with this.
This, but with Banjo-Kazooie DHD and all Jigglypuff variants.
So you'd fight Villager then.
My Rosalinas should be showing up on Saturday
Nobody can have my Little Mac or Captain Falcon
i'll consider Rosalina, but under protest
wii fit trainer too I guess but it feels less necessary considering most characters are already dudes
Which is probably too much?
I even asked for help at the last store and her serial number wasn't even coming up in the computer

Let me play Super Mario 64 on my Game Pad
Please
I wouldn't say "stupid"
They have to write a new emulator for every single game
It's why we haven't got N64 games on the Wii U VC proper yet: those emulators are hahd
Steam
On GameStop.com, it acts like you can add Toad to the cart but when you try it makes the cart empty, so I'm guessing it's sold out
I did manage to grab a pre-order of Mario Party 10 with the Mario amiibo though
i understand that it's not trivial
but it kind of doesn't matter?
they should've put the time and work in to do it instead of the weird half-assed way they're doing it that just confuses people
