Amusing letter from Jed York to the season ticket holders:
I would like to take this opportunity to speak directly to you, our Faithful fans.

After spending two years constructing a new home for you and our team, the 2014 season began with great anticipation and high hopes. On the field, we looked to build on three consecutive years of success and take that last step toward achieving our ultimate goal. Unfortunately, we were unable to capitalize and accomplish our objective.

As the CEO of this team, it is my responsibility to ensure we are always on the path to success. Yesterday, a change was made that I believe is in the best interest of this team. Change is often accompanied by skepticism, and I respect your right to have questions. Ultimately, the decisions we make as an organization will be judged by their results, and the best way to answer concerns is by putting a championship product on the field.

The 49ers experienced a period of success under Jim Harbaugh’s direction that we will look back on proudly, and for that we owe him our gratitude. The reality we now face is that the time has come for this team to move in a different direction – one that gets us back on the path to realizing our goals.

Now, our focus is squarely concentrated on solidifying the future of this team and finding our next head coach. Having successfully navigated this process in the past, Trent Baalke has my full confidence in leading our coaching search. We have an exciting opportunity ahead of us and look forward to adding more talented individuals to this organization.

As we move into the next chapter of our team’s history, I think back to an earlier time. In 1977, my grandfather brought our family to the 49ers and began to create a championship standard. That standard is now my responsibility to uphold and our efforts will be completely dedicated to that cause.

I share and respect your passion for this team because I was born with it. You are the most Faithful fans in the National Football League and you deserve a team that makes you proud.

    Sincerely,
    Jed York
    Chief Executive Officer
    San Francisco 49ers

Not gonna lie but I totally read this as:

    "Dear fans,

We rode Jim Harbaugh's ass for four years to get a new stadium and sell some PSLs. Now that we have your money, we told him to fuck off in favor of a guy who drafted Glen Coffee, AJ Jenkins, Taylor Mays, and LaMichael James in the first two rounds who didn't even remain on the team to the end of their rookie contract.

Hope you enjoy 6-10 for the next three years with Dennis Erickson part 2 in your super expensive seats.

    Suckers."

You forgot "But hey, remember the 80's? We were awesome then. That was great."

The only thing worse than Boston fans are SEC fans.

That may be because they're usually the toothless waiters at the local diner who barely left high school but are some how proud to be a Florida gator.

    God I hate college football.

Seriously. I'm glad you have the audacity to cheer for students who aren't paid who play for a million+ paid coach while the school looks the other way on their lack of academic ability. Good Jorb!

The Pats hate is getting old. Everyone forgets that prior to the first SB season, the Pats were often Bucs level of bad.

as a new yorker I think I'm under some sort of contractual obligation to hate them

This is a valid reason to hate Boston/NY teams. Also if you're from Montreal, because Habs.

I don't care who wins the Superbowl as long as it isn't the Seahawks. It's cool that the city has won a major sport trophy for the first time in forever, but some of the people here are talking like a virgin getting their first action. The fans will be insatiable if the Seahawks go back-to-back to boot.

To be fair, it is grossly underestimated how bad Singletary was. Could he "coach 'em up" and give speeches? Sure. Know a damn thing about Xs and Os? Nope. If you figured out what the gameplan was, there was no attempt to change it at halftime. Add in the fact that he brought in Jimmy Rae and his 1950s era playbook to call the offense and anyone could have made at least some improvement.

The real drop off next year is gonna be the loss of Justin Smith, who regularly demanded double and triple teams. Pretty much Aldon Smith is never gonna get another sack ever again.

I feel like I should send them a box of chocolates or something.

You know, now that he's gone I feel like I can say this. Harbaugh was a good coach that most of the league but Seattle especially made into a caricature. Oh well, Michigan gets him and who knows if Carroll retires around the time he feels like coming back to the NFL...

I feel the opposite. As a 49er fan in Los Angeles, I want the 49ers to win. If they don't win, I want someone from our division to win. That way, I can rationalize our losses as, "At least we lost to the SB champ."

Well at least Dallas doesn't have a star qb with a glaring weak spot for Suh to injure thus causing Dallas fans to complain about an NFL conspiracy.

I was going to say being ahead by 10 in the fourth quarter. Stafford has the same weakness, so this game is going to get exciting.

So apparently Suh's lack of incident in 32 games means that under the new CBA he was very, very technically not a repeat offender. That's exactly the threshold at which previous incidents drop off your record.

I would not be surprised if he knew this.

Nah, the stupid (stupid, stupid) nickname they throw around is "Stairway to Seven." In case you didn't get it from my sarcasm on the previous page, I kinda hate my own fanbase sometimes.

The truly "well, fuck everything" scenario for the rest of the league was if the seeds had fallen out in a way which allowed a Dallas v Green Bay NFC final and a NE v Pittsburgh AFC final.

At this point, what I want in some future year is San Francisco v Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl and Pittsburgh winning.

That way the Steelers would have won a Super Bowl against every current NFC West team.

There's a thing on 538 that breaks down expected win percentage of various QBs depending on whether they are behind or in the lead. I think Romo was among the worst playing with a lead and stafford was among the best playing with a deficit. So it could theoretically get interesting even if Dallas jumps out to an early lead

I frequent a Cowboys-specific forum that used to be a really good place for discussion, and now is like 30% good discussion 70% idiots because it gained popularity, and today there were already "If this were X team playing the Lions this suspension wouldn't have been overturned!" posts. Every fanbase has these morons.

I think his suspension should've held up, but there's no dumb conspiracy.

I started a group NFL.com Playoff Challenge thing, if others want to join, the password is the usual PA password, and if you don't know what that is, PM me and I guess I'll relinquish it. http://playoffchallenge.fantasy.nfl.com/group/219070

Remember, you get a multiplier for each consecutive week a player is in your lineup, so putting players in that have byes the first week is not a bad choice at all. Or maybe it is. Hmmmm!

Why is your team so consistently dreadful? I think that sounds harsher than I mean it to be, but you'd think by just random acts of god and statistical deviation you would have gone deep at least once :(
