is there an LED bulb that exactly matches the color temperature of a standard 60w light bulb and does not cost forty dollars a pop

(on a side note, i feel like, due to their cost, if i moved i would bring my LED bulbs with me)

i forget the specific statistic but it's something like we could only support 60% of the world's population if we switched to organic farming methods

in a world where entire countries of people are starving to death we have legions of people opting for farming methods that produce less food because it is more "natural" and supposedly better for you for some reason that if you asked someone in the produce department buying organic produce they couldn't quite articulate

    it is insane

those "paleo" people are even worse. Before agriculture it took 1.25 - 2 square miles to support a single adult human even in fertile areas.

total world population would be a couple million tops

Worst part of the lightbulb conversation was parents complaining about the window lights. They have these fake candle things in every window. The bulbs are no longer made, and the candle base won't support l.e.d.s. So they had to order bulbs from China.

The amount of needless in that dilemma is frustrating.

An odd lifestyle adjustment will be the drastic increase in cost of our plastics, as they rely heavily on petro.

We have enough oil to last until we invent fusion power.

Worst case we'd switch over to fission power.

The oil problem is that we're gonna global warm ourselves into radically different coastlines.

Pray the Martin Marietta project isn't bull shit.

In reality yes our life will change. But it won't be over night since a lot of the western world is using reduced amounts of oil but a lot of natural gas.

You will see a ramp up in clean energy tech though. Parts of the US get enough sun to power NYC for like decades every year.

Those parts are not near NYC btw.

Raina is alive but seems like she might be visibly mutated now. She definitely got powers, though.

Skye's dad turned out to be a character from the comics who I am p familiar with (his first name was the giveaway). Given who he is, a redemption seems 50% likely, but either way, I love watching Kyle McLachlan in the role. He is just killing it.

Lots of organic foods use pesticides that are more toxic and in higher quantities. Eating organic is a huge scam.

Curly Q lightbulbs, biodiesel fuels, and now organic berries. When will American learn it can't trust hippie liberals?

A good 23 or so minutes of Christmas Eve was parents and Grandparents bitching about light bulbs. I thought that was something FOX news made up.

But, no. My immediate family is irate over light bulbs.

Apparently they don't light up fast enough, or something.

Those lightbulbs actually are bullshit. I have them in my bathroom and fuck those things.

I turn on the light, and a dim glow appears. Room is still basically dark. THings I want to do involve seeing my face, but for all intents and purposes I cannot. Takes like 2-3 minutes for the bulb to warm up enough to shed decent light, and maybe 10 for it to get to max output.

Dumbest thing. I'm swapping to LEDs one fixture at a time and then hopefully I can stop thinking about lightbulbs.

I didn't even know they still made those slow-to-light CFLs any more. I thought they all started at 80-90% nowadays and did the final ramp up in seconds, not minutes.

I probably bought the bathroom lights some length of time ago, they're the globe shaped ones for a horrid exposed-light bathroom fixture you would inflict upon whatever poor soul decided to rent your bargain basement property.

Because that's what every fixture in my house looks like before I replace it. Cheap-ass "gold" doorknobs everywhere, contractor-bargain fixtures you'd pass over at the Habitat ReStore because they look too cheap.

Ha, Some of the shit I used to put in my apartments was just horrible.

I once did an entire bathroom in scrap tile. "ok this band will be broke tile and this we have enough to do a row of diagonal." kind of thing.

unfortunately we aren't running out of oil. Between new discoveries and new, even more destructive, ways of obtaining the shit the whole "peak oil" thing has been pushed out a loooong time. Even moreso for natural gas.

    This sucks. Really.

Cause global warming is very much a Thing and is going to get really, really, really bad long before oil gets too expensive.

There is a US Electric Drag racing association. They don't compete with the top fuel dragsters in terms of time but they are pretty much strictly amateur. If they had support from Tesla or anyone else, I suspect they would be competitive. I suspect part of the problem is also that generating all of that power at once tends to do awful things to the battery packs and they don't want to encourage that.
