Like Chilean miners emerging from the earth, so too shall 2015 soon rise from the ashes of 2014. That means it's time to talk resolutions! Did you achieve your 2014 resolutions? What are you setting out to do in 2015? Let's talk about it.

    Practically perfect? So people say

I'm practically perfect from head to toe,

I only had soda 4ish times this year, so not perfect but pretty close. My sister gave me some fancy-shmancy root beer for Christmas, so I'll drink that tonight and try to do even better next year.

Other than that, I dunno. Guess I'll resolve to run a <22 minute 5k this year. I was at 24 before the cold started keeping me inside, so I should be able to get there.

I have this friend who carries her New Year's resolutions around with her, a little piece of paper folded up in her wallet. (Her main one this year was "Sleep with no terrible people," which later had to be modified to "Sleep with fewer terrible people")

I liked the idea, so did it this year. I went for a mix of concrete goals and abstract ones.

    My list was:
    -Write a feature script (done)
    -Write fellowship spec (done)
-Write pilot (if I bang out these last five pages today, done)
    -Write novel (haha nope)
-Produce 1 hour of filmed content (done)
-Credit score up to [redacted] (done)
-Explore more (technically done, but not to my satisfaction. Did better that 2013, but still room for improvement)
    -Take more notes (done)

    I did pretty well!

My resolutions for this year are gonna look like:
-Write another feature, and submit it somewhere
-Polish pilot, and submit it somewhere
    -Write another fellowship spec
    -Get a literary agent
    -Direct a thing
-Get a more satisfying and/or better paying day job
    -Credit score up to [redacted]
    -Explore even more

    Finally finish my shitty novel.

So I can make a less shitty novel.

Last year's resolution was 'finish this fucking game good fucking god WE'RE STILL WORKING ON IT?' so I feel pretty good about that.

Also 'become a lead' and check-a-rooni.

Other resolution - insert discussion about my proposal for an open world Burn Notice-style game into every day conversations with studio leadership.

    Gotta start laying that foundation.

    1. Get my work done on time for getting this comic project published (on schedule)
    2. Write a short story and get it published somewhere. Anywhere that pays money! (working on it)
    3. Figure out whether or not this story idea I've been kicking around is worth a book.
    4. Write up a treatment for my webcomic script, and a lot of different pages, before looking for an artist (working on it)
    5. Find a better job that balances my dreams with the practical considerations of both my education and my wife's province-specific training
    6. Spend less time on the internet
    7. Make plans to go on vacation to somewhere in Asia - maybe Japan???
    8. Replay Mother 3
    9. If need be, go back to school to finish out my degree

I guess each of those is doable

Resolution: Make a new 5 year plan. A real plan, with details. I've got to get onto a career path that I find satisfying rather than something that just pays the bills.

Alternate resolution: Bribe vsove to get myself a job at Bioware.

I need to actually write something this year, and submit it somewhere for publication. I don't want to waste an English degree on what is glorified data entry.

I also resolve to move out of my parent's house this year. Preferably, I'd like to move somewhere really new. Los Angeles is shaping up to be the place.
