Colour scheme for club car is based upon this website.
So there's this game called Driveclub. You may have heard of it, though we don't seem to have a thread for it.
It's really had a bit of a hard time of things; it was promised as a freebie when the PS4 launched for Playstation Plus subscribers. Then it was pushed back and pushed back and finally, FINALLY released. Then it didn't work. Nor did the pretty weather effects. Oh and the free version didn't appear either.
Fast forward a couple of months and without anyone really noticing, it works now. It also looks absolutely fantastic. However there's no free version at present so you have to pay to play it. It is, however, very much worth the money. It's also very cheap (at least in the UK), around £25.
It's not one of your fancy pants open-world driving games, nor is it super realistic. It is, however, super-fantastic.
Here's wikipedia's take on it, because I'm lazy at ops:
Driveclub differs from Evolution Studios previous racing franchise, MotorStorm, in that it focuses on road racing rather than off-road racing. As the name Driveclub suggests, players are able to make clubs of up to 6 players and complete challenges together to earn fame (a basic form of currency in the game). Every team member's action contributes to the club's overall success. The game's tracks and environments are inspired by real places in diverse regions across the globe. Driveclub also features dynamic weather such as rain and snow, and a day-night cycle.
There are three main game modes in Driveclub; tour, single event and multiplayer. In tour, you complete single player events set in various locations using the allocated cars. A set of objectives are also present and can be tackled during the events. In the single event game mode, players choose what event they would like to play (drift, race or time-trial) and have the freedom to select the location, weather and other options. Finally, the multiplayer game mode revolves around competition and co-operation with real life players. Players can complete challenges with social leaderboards, create clubs and play online races.
Anyone else taken the plunge on this? Do we have a club? Should we have a club? A club of drivers?
Here's some pictures I've stolen from the internet, until I unlock some of the more impressive looking cars myself to take pictures of:
If you've any awesome pictures yourself, post them up and I'll replace these!

For anyone on the fence about this game, just add me on psn (username in sig) and we can sort out some shareplay gaming where you can give it a go.
If there's interest (and not one already) I can set up a PA club.

This game does look fantastic, and while it's not a simulation experience by any means, the cockpit view is the most immersive I've seen.
Fellow Driveclub owner, in case you don't know, there's some free DLC out now!

5 new tracks, multiplayer time trial and some AI improvements.
I'll sort out a club soon

Well, I think I may just pick this up with my 10% off thing this weekend!
It's a shame, a lot of websites are now picking up on how much the game has improved and are encouraging people to give it a chance.
I love that it's old school in design, when racers went open world I lost interest, this is just back to pure racing. It's a shame it didn't release in the state it is now, it'd have been MUCH better received.
Also Isy, when you upgrade your harddrive you'll have to reinstall everything... That's certainly something to look forward to!

::Edit:: I've gone for the rather uninventive but descriptive "Club PA", and I've changed the colour scheme of the car to match the blue/orange of the forum, hopefully that's not too hideous. I only had five minutes, also our badge sucks right now, it was the closest I could get to the PA logo, so I've left it off the car. Anyone better at these things is welcome to give it a shot (I think I can make someone club owner to do it)

I was super excited for this game, but the lack of interest here, and then the issues that popped up seemed
I'll be about a bit tonight and lots tomorrow (tonight being UK time)
This offer stands for anyone wanting to try it.

I'm tempted to get the season pass this weekend actually. I've already lined up a few other things to use the 10% discount on (REmake, Sleepy Dogs DLC and Game of Thrones so far), so I might just add it to the list.

You see, there are two things I've never done in a racing game. The first is play using a Wheel and Pedal setup. The second is playing in first person, behind the wheel mode. I figured I'd change that with Driveclub.
So, the wheel and pedals were delivered on Saturday, and I bought Driveclub and got it installed about an hour before NFL kickoff on Sunday, and ran the first race a few times. What I learned is that playing with a wheel in first person is a very different experience then playing with a gamepad in third person; and its an experience I suck at pretty badly right now.
In the three races I ran, I easily came in at last place each and every time. I'm going to need a good deal of practice in order to become even mildly competitive in it. The good news is that Driveclub is very pretty, and even when I was crashing horribly, I was enjoying it, so I am looking forward to learning.

Is it even purchasable on the PSN store? Every time I look on the webstore it says the game is unavailable for purcahse. On the flip side, Amazon has it for 39.99 right now (physical copy), and both Target and Best Buy will match the price.
It was for me on Sunday. There are two versions of it available, and I think you need to go to the one that matches whether you have PS+ or not. I have PS+, so I bought that one ($50).
Thanks for pointing that out, it helps to use the search feature on the PSN store

Gladly  Help get some of these challenges down, I'll be trying to nail a few tomorrow night.

You certainly chose the right game for it. In a game that looks this nice, and from the cockpit view, wiping out bad enough to roll the car like five times is quite the spectacle.
In respect to my own doubts earlier, though, I'd say this game is certainly worth the $50 price tag.

Glad to see people enjoying this as much as I am. I also suck at drifting. My general tactic is to tap brake, hit the handbrake and then hammer x to keep in the lower gear.
If you're less shit at driving games then apparently manual is handy for drifting.
Also apparently you don't have to friend me to get in to the club, just search for Club PA and request an invite.
...I'd rather you friend me though. I'm lonely.

Tried to base it on the site colours.
(Sorry, I'm not overly good with this kinda thing, if anyone else wants to give it a shot they're more than welcome, I can just make you club owner)
