PAX South Pin Meetup

It's time to have...the talk kids. As many of our community regulars(and lurkers, we still love you too) that are coming to South, it would be criminal to not have some form of in person get together that isn't part of the official PAX schedule. I'd love to meet 98.4% of you in person and share tales of pin adventures or other happenings in life. I'm local here to San Antonio, so I'm easy with whatever; bar, restaurant, hotel lobby, random corner on the floor of the convention center, literally wherever.

Figured we needed to get this ball started rolling now so we can flush out details before everyone has left their home base. Thoughts, anyone?

I've been tossing ideas for meetups around the noggin, but I got too lazy to make a thread.

Personally I'd love to do a meetup on Thursday night, maybe get a number of people interested and grab dinner/drinks/trade pins/chat or whatever.

I'm good for whatever outside of my enforcing hours (whatever those end up being).

To clarify, that was me seconding food and drinks on Thursday night, especially since my alternative is sitting in my hotel room all night with only overpriced mini bar candy for company :P

Gettin crunk with all the pin pals! I must say it's very cool to have so many people coming to this PAX, since it's probably the last inaugural PAX we'll probably have for a long time.

Thursday evening would be good for me as well, as far as venue goes, I can't personally attest to any specific location's worth as I am local, but only a recent transplant and I don't really drink much. I'm more than happy to do any legwork needed if we want to attempt to reserve a spot in advance, or if we just want to invade. Downtown Thursday night should be relatively calm compared to the next two days, and we should be able to get whatever we decide on. I guess the biggest question would be number of folks interested roughly; once we know that the venue could be chosen, etc etc.

There will be pub crawls going on (Game of Thrones) at the very least, IDK what the destinations are yet, so we should probably try and find a place off the radar if at all possible.

I suppose, if I had my druthers, I would prefer some place relatively quiet as I prefer talking to people rather than yelling at them.

Meeting up with people sounds great!

Unfortunately unless the meetup will be/go real late, we can't do Thursday night (putting in a full workday here, then the flight from Chicago to S.A. lands at 11:25pm) -- but I'll stay tuned for further updates

I'm sure some people will still be around at that time, if not I'm sure there will be some sort of after party.

IMO it would be neat if we got a rough number of who would want to meet up, and then maybe get a reservation somewhere? Nothing fancy, though if the group is a bit large then maybe we can think of something better.

Ok, so lets try this, and see how it goes: Post if you're interested in a Thursday evening meet up, and I'll keep a running tally at the original post to get a headcount. If Thursday night isn't doable for you, go ahead and post any alternatives and we can keep the discussion going.

And for the record, the pin trading session is Saturday from 8PM-10PM, which I assume we'll all be a part of as well. Hopefully it's better handled than Prime's.

Alaska Airlines Flight 692. Leaves at 11:35am, looks like there are a handful of enforcers on that flight. Another popular flight seems to be United 1129 which is a red-eye with a layover.
