My girlfriend (of 10 months, and best friend of 2 years), Alyssa, who I loved very much died on monday, a result of a clot in her lungs which formed from being on birth control. I don't know if I'm going to seattle yet, because her funeral is on friday and there is a function on saturday. I know she would want me to go, so I may fly out friday or saturday night, it would also help to take my mind off of the recent events. Those living in Edmonton (Journal) and Winnipeg can see her in the obituaries on Thursday.

I'm so sorry to hear that man, you might want to stick around to support her family.
Bad to hear that, man...my buddy is in a similar situation, though he's pulled through - I know how it feels, man. Stay at home, support her family, and see through it. If you want, I can record PAX's events (well, most of them), and send you a DVD.
I agree with what everyone else says, I think you should be there for her services and to support her family & friends. (It looks as though PAX certainly has the numbers to be successful, so there's a good chance there will be another one in the future.)
Oh, gosh. It is quite difficult to hear things like that. Makes me want to cry even though I don't know you... please don't ridicule me for this. I can't even imagine. I am so sorry. I deeply wish I could do more...
That is unbelieveably terrible, and as someone who's lost a girlfriend unexpectedly, I know that nothing I say will make the pain go away. I'm glad you chose to stay at home, because nothing at PAX will help like the support of your family and friends when you need them.
I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts.

There are more important things than a gaming convention. There's always next year, man.
