Maaaan! I leave for my 2-year-long Japan adventure on the 23rd, and I'll be doing family stuff the day before to celebrate. Gonna miss out on that sweet sweet ice cream action...
@Uriel highway driving is in some ways the least stressful driving you can do. While you're obviously moving at higher speed than on city streets, traffic all flows in one direction. If you're on an interstate, people only get on and off the highway at specified exits, and generally only from the right-hand side of the highway (although there are exceptions to this, especially when you're in a large city). In that respect it's much less stressful than having to worry about traffic lights/stop signs, people turning into your lane or cutting you off, people slowing down in your lane to take turns, and pedestrians.
Just double check your mirrors and remember to turn your head whenever you have to change lanes. Your mirrors can give you a lot of info if they're adjusted properly, but a quick head check is always worth it to clear out any blind spots.
On a highway with three or more lanes in each direction, I like to hang out in the lane that's either in the middle or the second rightmost lane. That way I have a lane on my left to pass (and a lane faster drivers can use to pass me), and can avoid having to move over for slow moving trucks and people merging onto the highway in the rightmost lane.
The the machine is starting to hum with power! In little over two weeks we'll be setting forth on a grand adventure into the distant past!
Who will join me on this expedition?

I'll be there with my family (no costumed pets, though). Unless the weather gets foul, then we'll defer to the following weekend (when they have a junior caber toss!). It's been a few years since we've attended, and it seems they've added a lot of activities/entertainment.
Regardless, I'll take just about any opportunity to wear a kilt.
I threw lots of axes, and had fun. Didn't have a turkey leg, because meat on the bone is unappetizing to me. BUUUUUT @Fuselage is coming to town, which means I'll be going again in September, if you're down to drive at that point

I really should go out on one today.

For a confusing moment my brain parsed this as "not interested but wholly committed".
Like "Eh, I really couldn't give a shit but I am down like a fucking clown son."
The wife braided my beard to help me blend in with the locals. Now imgonna practice my axe throwing just in case.
Did you have a turkey leg?
